Re: Socceroos/A-league
I reckon the away kit is cool, something different but theres something odd about the homekit. the shorts for it are terrible too and those side panels are uggo!
I havent even thought about next season for soccer lol cause im so busy lately but i'll try. I'm not renewing my season ticket so I'll be less miffed to go to games(who would want to go to games to watch our shit team play in that empty stadium man)
IVe seen more people lining up for a public shitter than people lining up to watch GCU play
Oh also the U-17s thrashed Canada and beast Uruguay over the last couple days to prep for their first group game at the U-17 world cup against Ivory Coast which is on in 2 days
SBS are televising both U17 and U20 world cups but also the womens world cup

Re: Socceroos/A-league
Anyone know what hes like?Liverpool Born Mark Hughes has signed a two year contract (subject to a medical and international clearance being received) with the Shakers following his return from Australia.
Mark joined Everton at the age of just seven and progressed through the system before becoming reserve team captain. Spending time out on loan at Stockport County in 2006, he signed a 12 month deal for the Toffee men. A regular in the Everton Second String, he made just three first team appearances, making his debut in the League Cup against Peterborough United in September 2006. His premier league bow came three months later during a 2-0 win against West Ham United.

He moved to Northampton Town in January 2007 for an undisclosed fee, signing a two year contract and became the Cobblers first choice centre half under Stuart Gray. After two years at Sixfields he did not take up the offer of a new contract and signed for Walsall on a free transfer. He completed his 12 months at the Bescot, before accepting a deal with North Queensland Fury in the Australian A-League.
Hughes made a name for himself in the A-League, having turned down contracts offered to him by several other A-League clubs midway through the season. In total he scored four goals for Queensland. He went onto be named the Fury's player of the season. North Queensland Fury ceased operations at the end of last season leaving Mark without a club.
He returned to England, with a contract offer from A-League club Newcastle Jets but has now taken the contract offered to him by Richie Barker. Although he plays as a central defender, Mark is capable of being a regular goal scorer, both from the penalty spot and in open play. 24 year old Mark becomes Richie Barker's first signing as the Shakers build upto the new league one season.

Re: Socceroos/A-league
Hes a great defender, saved North Queensland so many times I lost count. Dominant in the air and hes a smart player, hes always there to put in a tackle or block a shot. Plus he can score goals too. When North Queensland were down we would throw him up front and use him as a target man. Hes got a decent shot on him too, one goal he drilled in a free kick.

Re: Socceroos/A-league
He didn't want to play for any Australian team but North Queensland, made me really respect the man. If we were still a club no doubt he would have stayed, great guy.GCU wrote:Yeah Hughes is a pretty damn good player, was surprised he didn't stay in the A-League
