Best player of all time
Who do you think is the best player of all time?? I've got a few players on the poll already, but if the player you want to vote for isn't there, tell me and I'll add it.

Best footballer of all time..
Fucking hell that's the hardest thing to chose, even a top 10 is very difficult.

Over their career, either Pele or Maradona. At peak powers I'd have to say Ronaldinho.

Can't edit the vote, forgot that you can't edit it if people have already voted on it.

Re: Best player of all time
totti
- 5th all time top scorer in serie A and ongoing
- pioneered the false nine role before anyone else
- one of the best first-touch passers in history
- one-man club from youth to retirement to beyond
only reason some dont give him credit is because of his lack of trophies. but thats only because he plays for a weaker team. 2000-10 was roma's best decade in history, and totti played a huge factor in that.

Messi. Anyone surprised?
Ronaldo(Brazilian) is better than most in the poll though imo.

they're not false nines
just because they're deep lying forwards/attacking midfielders, doesn't make them false nines

Even if they weren't, surely the credit goes to Spalletti rather than Totti?

Before I start off, it was actually Hidegkuti not Kocsis.
No, that doesn't make them false nines. What makes them false nines is that they all played nominally as a lone central striker and dropped deep into midfield.
Sindelar played as the forefront of the Austrian Wunderteam's attack before dropping into midfield.
The first England came across was Matthias Sindelar in a friendly against Austria at Stamford Bridge in 1932. England ended up winning 4-3, but there was a widespread recognition that Sindelar, a slight but imaginative forward, had unnerved England by moving into midfield, looking to make the play as much as to finish chances.

Hidegkuti did the same for the Hungarian Mighty Magyars.
Winterbottom before the Hungary game merely asked his designated centre-half, Harry Johnston, whether he wanted to man-mark Hidegkuti or stand off him, to which Johnston answered that he would stand off. All well and good had Winterbottom designated another player, probably a wing-half, to follow Hidegkuti, but he didn't, with the result that Hidegkuti ran riot and scored three goals. The first of them came after 90 seconds, when, taking a free kick from the edge of the penalty box, his feint drew Johnston aside in the wall, whereupon Hidegkuti shot through the gap, to beat Gil Merrick, an erratic keeper that day.

Cruyff played as a central striker in a front three flanked by Keizer and Resenbrink in Ajax's 4-3-3, and Tostao did the same in a lopsided 4-3-3 formation during the 1970 WC. That was the only time he ever played as a central striker,

Re: Best player of all time
Not seen enough of Pele or some of the others so.
Maradona or Zidane but maybe if Messi keeps going, and can do it at the World stage with Argentina then he Could takeover. But it would take a better judge than me to say who was or is the Greatest ever footballer ever.
But i saw Maradona at his Greatest in 1986 when he was without doubt the main reason Argentina won that World Cup. That team was a decent team but without Maradona i dont think they would have had much chance of winning it.

Re: Best player of all time
Saw him at his best and he was something special, his free kicks were bloody scary. Saw him and the Brazil team from 1982 what a team to watch, with the likes of him Socrates and eder and the boys. Even though the lost in the Quarter Finals the just played some Amazing Attacking Football.Snoopy wrote:Have to go with Zico.
