Cahill was quite well known down London area but maybe not up north, Super Timmy Cahill what a player and bloke . Shame we had to sell him for such a measley fee

Ronaldo was one of the biggest young players in the world and had interest from many elite clubs. Nani was dubbed the next bid thing and Sporting and I would hardly say Anderson has been successful.

Come to the conclusion that this is almost impossible to create a list for, unless someone played in the lower leagues of their domestic league before joining a Prem, La Liga, Serie A team almost everyone is known.

Rangers signed Arteta from Barcelona B and he had a very good 1st season
Although he's obviously made his name in England at Everton. Pienaar was also pretty well known at Ajax I think.
