I agree with you, except with Rooney, he is young and probably the best player talent wise England has, regardless of his shitty England streak. But Gerrard and Lampard should be replaced, they clearly can't play together in the first place even though England managers kept trying to play them together, now you are building towards the 2014 World Cup, no reason for Lampard or Gerrard to have any part in the 2014 world cup they will be too old by then. Start somebody else in the midfield, Wilshere, Huddlestone, Barton, Parker, anyone will do.

Or you can move someone like Adam Johnson, Ashley Young, or Stewart Downing to the middle of the park.

you gotta think towards the future. You've already had like 3 world cups with Lampard/Gerrard, do you really need a fourth? it's clear that as great as they are they will never win tournaments for England. You have to roll the dice and replace alot of the old guard.

If they continue to peform consistantly and play well then i don't see why they shouldn't be in the national team set up. It's not exactly their fault that we're not winning anything, is it?

The next World Cup is in 3 years time, thats plenty of time to call up a some players from the U21's to replace Gerrard and Lampard, but they've still got at least 2 years left in them. Maybe after the Euro's, but at the moment i wouldn't want Jordan Henderson or especially Lee Cattermole to replace Lampard in CM.

You don't know how some of those young players will progress over the next few years leading up to the WC. If I told you 5 years ago Jack Wilshere would be starting for England you might not believe it. They are all options that need to be watched closely. Some of them are ready to step in now and others certainly are not.
