I actually really like the look/handling of the Corsa, and might just buy a 1.8 litre. Since it's a light car, it'll be quite quick. I'd get the ultra blue colour though, it looks nicer imo.

Apart from the wheels, that looks sexual.
Or I might just move on from the Corsa and get a Mitsubishi Evo If I can find one I can afford/insure.
A mate of mine has just got an Evo 10 it's mental! Cost 18 grand, think he had to get a 10k loan.

Nah, it got crashed into parked outside my house. Big lorry, back end smashed into the side of it. A lorry that size should have been a bit cleverer tbh. I live on a side street in a small village, and it was the type of lorry that does big deliveries.
I was hoping to drive to quite a lot of places over this summer with my mates as the furthest I've driven is PowerLeague. We've booked 2 nights in Leeds in August and I'm meant to be a designated driver. Is it difficult driving on motorways?

Unlucky.
Nah, driving on a Motorway is easy. The thing that most people are worried about is the part where you actually join the Motorway, but it's actually easy as fuck. Everyone worries during their first time, but you just get over it quickly.
The best way to become a really confident driver, is to drive a lot.

Evo 10's are fucking lush.
My favourite car atm is an Audi R8. If I had the money I'd buy one of those, so nice.

Nobody gives a crap about cars unless they're flash, those things might aswell have a sign on the top that say "My car is shit but I pretend it's amazing to 16 year olds".
My dad's had Bentley's, Porsche, Maserati etc and now he drives a decent Volvo and seriously nobody gives a shit about the Volvo and its twice the car of most on the road. Probably the cheapest car you can get that actually stands out as classy/cool is a BMW M3 convertible.

Lol, I don't know about where you're from, but everywhere I've been, people do take interest in cars. The majority of my friends have an big interest in car modifications, and they drive cars like Clio Sports, VW Golfs and Corsas and Ford STs. With the right mods, any car can be a head turner, in a good way. My car has only been modified slightly, yet it gets attention and compliments nearly everywhere I go.
To me, you just sound like someone who doesn't have a car.
You can be as condescending as you like and say that it's tacky, but that's just your opinion, and tbh, you probably don't even have a car, so you can't really say much. Doesn't your GF drive you around? Lol.
I know all about the more expensive cars being sexual and being head turners at a more extreme level, as my Dad has had a few, and my stepdad gets a lot of attention with his TVR, but at our age, it's not very feasible to have a car like that.

It depends on who is buying it. For a teenager, probably a couple of grand. For a working adult, probably 8,000 dollars. However, a lot depends on what people value most.Rafael Benitez wrote:Glen Damon wrote:The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a flashy cheap car as well.

You can put new bumpers, exhaust, tainted windows on a Corsa but its still a Corsa, doing what those guys have done in the pic you posted has one word come to mind.. chav. Some dickheads put a bodykit on an MR2 to make it look like a Ferrari. Although if you saw a Ferrari you would realise they are much bigger then that pile of crap.ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:Lol, I don't know about where you're from, but everywhere I've been, people do take interest in cars. You really are talking full of shit.
It is plain to see that you don't really have a great interest in cars, and so you're just following the stereotype, calling any modified car "chavvy". Especially the bit in your previous comment where you said about how they'd "pretend it's amazing to 16 year olds". You actually don't have a clue, that's why you revert to stereotype. That'd be like me saying you have a small penis because of your weightlifting antics.
No-one is saying that if you modify a Corsa, it becomes something better than a Corsa. It's still a Corsa, no shit, genius. But you obviously don't appreciate the time, cost and effort that goes into making these cars look nice/sound nice and run nicely. It's like a project. Something you can be proud of. Anyone with a lot of money can go out and buy a flash car, but owning a car which you've done a lot to makes it a bit sweeter. Also, like I said, at our age, it's the only feasible thing you can do. You can't afford to buy a Ferrari, and at the same time, you don't want to drive around in a cheap car when it's at it's standard look (not modified.)
Lastly, it's hilarious reading the shit you're saying, when I know your GF drives you around everywhere, which is the least masculine thing ever. Out of interest, what's your first car going to be?

I'd rather drive a Corsa with no modifications, just as it is, than one with those shitty tacky looking modifications people put on it. Agree with Chris, if it's not a Ferrari, I'm just not interested in what shitty modifications you've made to it.

I do think it's tacky and chavvy too actually but it's cool if people want to drive around in cars like that. There are some that look really good when they are done well to be fair.
I bought a Mini Cooper D a few months ago, a dealer in Derby (Long ass journey) was doing this crazy offer and it was simply too good to pass up. Cost around £8000 and it was brand new. Same colour and everything as the picture below.
Although I can't actually drive legally yet so I've given it to my sister (insurance and everything is in her name). I'll probably let her keep it to be honest, she loves mini coopers and she's already gave the car a name.

I don't see what's wrong with modifying a car to make it look better. No one is trying to make it a ferrari and it doesn't have to look like it's from 2 fast 2 furious, it's just trying to make it look a bit better.
It's like saying a 6/10 girl shouldn't wear makeup just because she's not a 10/10.

Not having a dig, I don't even have a car. But I wouldn't modify a Corsa. I don't think it's worth the effort, I don't like Corsa's however they're done up, apart from the odd few but they spent like 10 grand doing them up which is ridiculous because you'll never see even a fraction of that again. Corsas are womens cars to me.
If you have an old Civic, a Golf, even a Polo then they can really be worth doing up. My mate's got a 2.0 Golf done up, it looks the part and it smashes other cars at the lights.
I'd find it more embarrassing to drive a done up Corsa, then a standard one. A standard one says, "Yeah I'm driving a Corsa for the time being.", a modified one says, "I drive a Corsa, and I'm proud."
Again, not a dig, just my opinion.

I'm a fan of Golfs and Polos. Some Civics are nice. I was toying with the idea of getting a Civic Type R for my next car. Still undecided, obviously. One of my friends has a Seat Leon FR, which is also really nice. Just because I have a Corsa, doesn't mean I only like Modified Corsas. I'm very much interested in the whole genre.
Corsa are not 'woman' cars, lol. I hardly ever see woman driving a Corsa unless it's one of the girly coloured ones, which you'll see with Golfs, Civics and Polos too.
http://www.corsa-c.co.uk/forum/forum.php
That's the Corsa C forum, just take a look at how many users are on it, and how active it is. Look at the names too, all male. It can't be that womanly if that many guys are into Corsa. So forgive me if I think your opinion is bullshit.
How does that look womanly?
Anyway, as I've said before, it's only my first car, and I'm already looking to buy my second car soon.
Lastly, having my current car >>>>>>>> having no car.

Like I said, it's just my opinion. I've known a few birds to drive Corsas. I also just don't like the sort of bubble shape to the back end. I know it's better than having no car, I said that. It's just an opinion, I don't care if you think it's bullshit.
Type-R's are nice but you can't do them up really. The old old Civic's are perfect for doing up and look quality when lowered.
I weird fav of mine is the 306. I'd like that to be my first car. I love how the doors sort of curve in and they can be done up nicely as well.

Okay, I guess I'll just have to respect your opinion.
When I started my driving lessons at 17 years old, I wanted a 306, but I stopped. By the time I was 19, I started lessons again, and my preference had changed to the Corsa. The interior (dashboard, cd player area etc) on the Corsa is really nice compared to other cars at the same age.

Yeh I passed at 17 but have never had stable enough work to commit to insurance. Construction is shit, I've always known my work could finish for a month or two at any time.
I've drove mates cars the odd time but the only things I've regularly drove is Transits and Pick-ups

Agreed with Babel.
If I had the money I'd much rather have something like a really nice Audi R8 if I had the money than have some Mitsibushi Evo with an apple shooter exhaust and shit vinyl's plastered.
My motto is more is less, the only think I'd probably like to do is get a black car which is sleek, spray the alloys black if it suits and get bright red callipers.
Some modded cars do look nice however.

Scott forget all the petty/personal stuff. You've got a Corsa which imo is a reasonable car for your age like you said. All i'm saying is putting all this shit on it makes it look tacky and yes it is chavvy whether you like it or not. I prefer the top corsa because it looks normal and not like the owner is trying to impress people with a very average car.ScottyBoy_1989 wrote:Chris wrote:

Re: The Official Car thread. Post Your Cars.
So annoying when people just associate modifying cars with being 'chavvy'. The chavvy type stuff is where they don't put much care into it, i.e buy a cheap old Corsa, go to Halfords and buy a massive exhaust tip, some Lexus style rear lights and cheapo alloys, stick it all on and think they're the nuts.
Scott's car looks to have been done properly and tastefully, as in he's looked after the bodywork and chosen modifications that compliment each other, rather than just bolting on a few cheap bits of shite from Halfords and calling that job done.
