It's not as simple as that. Players are pretty much forced to play even when they are not fit by countries. The current club schedule is already draining enough for players without them having to play 5 useless friendlies extra that just destroy them.

Well the most recent example is Marcelo. Not in Copa America squad because he pulled out of a friendly.
