Who do you reckon their best goalkkeper is? My guess is Diamantino Leong or hir Brazillian name Adi.
Has played for the giant clubs in Timor Leste and is a regular in the NT. He made his debut for Rusa Fuik at the age of 18.

Bahamas
I expected them to beat Turks and Caicos Islands, bit I only anticipated a narrow victory.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Well I think there are three different draws this week. One for the 1st round ties for CAF, one for the 2nd round groups in CONCACAF, and another draw for the groups in UEFA.fluffy_kittens wrote:isnt there some kind of draw later this week? what exactly is it for?

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Something else I find funny is that the bottom teams in OFC are so bad is they make them have a mini tournament before playing the contenders. This mini tournament will take place in November 2011 most likely in Samoa.
American Samoa
Cook Islands
Samoa
Tonga
The winner will join the top 7 OFC teams in the OFC Nations Cup which is the next round for qualifying.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
I know that most of you guys are not fans of the FIFA Rankings but the ranking that determines the pots for the World Cup is out and there is big news. France have offically been moved to pot 2 for the the draw for UEFA Qualifying. This also means that Norway and Greece will be in Pot 1. I am not sure how the pots will be adjusted but UEFA has decided that Russia and Georgia cannot be drawn into the same group, and also Azerbaijan and Armenia cannot be in the same group.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
It was a B+C team with like 3 players from the A team starting if memory serves... then again they called up a player who plays in the Polish league which says alot.
The FIFA rankings really screw over host nations.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
We have an interesting format change to qualification when it comes to the interconfederation playoffs as they will be set by random draw rather than beforehand. This could be rather interesting to see how this plays out. The difference between CONCACAF v CONMEBOL and CONCACAF v OFC is huge.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Pip I need your expert OFC opinion now! Who is the favorite in the opening round between American Samoa, Cook Islands, Samoa, and Tonga? I think Samoa is the only one of these teams who has ever won a FIFA sanctioned match.

It is the draw for everyone except CONMEBOL and OFC. Also the matchups for the interconfederation playoffs here is determined.
What you will see from this draw;
AFC 3rd round schedule
CAF 1st round matchups
CONCACAF 2nd round groups
UEFA 1st round groups

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
If I was more energetic I would list the whole AFC results here but if that happens it will be at another time. Here is a quick detail of what went on;
\Indonesia was the only team from Pot B to advanced and Turkmenistan was the only Pot A team to lose
Every 1st round winner is now out
Myanmar v Oman was abandoned due to crowd trouble and the result is being appealed by Myanmar but they were down 4-0 on aggergate when this happened. The ref awarded Oman a "questionable" penalty leading fans to throw rocks and glass bottles at the ref.
List of teams that advanced to 3rd round
Thailand
Lebanon
China PR
Indonesia
Kuwait
Oman
Saudi Arabia
Iran
Syria
Qatar
Iraq
Singapore
Uzbekistan
United Arab Emirates
Jordan

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Somehow after today this thread was forgotten about with the draw. Having a CONCACAF v OFC playoff looks interesting. It would be cool if somehow one of the island nations of CONCACAF was in this so it would insure an island nation a spot in the tournament proper. Jamaica v New Zealand or anyone in OFC would be cool. I guess Cub could get there but I doubt it, I really do.
