Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
It should be noted that Brunei, Bhutan, Guam, and Mauritania have not entered the qualifying phase.
Although you might not expect it but in early qualifying we will have some of the first USA v UK football rivalry when the US Virgin Islands play the British Virgin Islands. This might just make for an interesting local derby match.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
isn't Montserrat the worst international team in the world. I read an article in 442 that alot of their island was decimated by a volcano some years back, including their stadium and that at times the players are complete strangers who don't play with or know each other normally and introduce eachother on the field. They usually have trouble putting a team on the field as well and sometimes only bring like 14 players to games.
Interesting stuff really.

Yes all of this is accurate and true information. One of the towns that had to be abandoned was Plymouth which was the capital at the time. Being forced to move the head of government can make thing very tricky. The current population of the island is 5,789.fluffy_kittens wrote:isn't Montserrat the worst international team in the world. Now back to football, Belize won the game 5-2 and the 2nd leg will be played on the 19th.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Well it looks like Montserrat is not quite out of the World Cup just yet;
Second leg originally scheduled to be played on 19 June 2011, 16:00 UTC-6, at FFB Field, Belmopan. However, the match has been postponed as the FIFA Emergency Committee decided to suspend the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) with immediate effect on account of severe governmental interference on 17 June 2011.[5] The match must be rescheduled no later than 10 July 2011, provided that the situation is back to normal regarding the FFB and the suspension has been lifted by that date. If not, Belize will be excluded from World Cup qualifying

Belieze should do well. Their manager is the guy who got Hondouras to their last WC finals before the 2010 accomplishment.
Surprised Bhutan didn;'t enter, they have an excellent striker who domintes the Bhutan League.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Ahh I forgot totally about the classic game called The Other Final on the day of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. This game was between the two worst ranked teams according to FIFA Bhutan and Montserrat. Bhutan won this classic 4-0 which 25,000 attended and Steve Bennett was referee.
