Vidic can do one or two stupid things every so often and he struggles to handle playing against a striker with pace but apart from that, he is a top quality defender and IMO the best in the world.
His heading ability is superb and can sometimes help us in an attacking sense as well as a defensive sense. His tackling is also sometimes superb and he is always willing to put his body at risk.

I think Carvalho, for example, is better than Vidic ever will be (I actually thought Vidic was much younger, he's almost 30).

When he played with Terry at Chelsea, I always rated him as the better of the two, but because Terry is an Englishman many people thought that he was a lot better.

Guillermo Ochoa, all these other guys before at least play at a high level or have done well recently in a few games but Memo has been living off his good looks and his Copa America 2007 performance against Brazil for the last 4 years. He'll always be the first to come to mind when these threads come up. Mind boggling how popular he is. Although it might only be little girls who like him, those are the only people I hear cheer in Mexico matches.
