There is absolutely nothing wrong in putting players you have never seen play in your list. I never saw Maradona play but looking at videos and worldwide comments it would be stupid not to include him as one of the greatest players ever. Same with Pele, after all the goals he scored and awards he won it's stupid to to considered as one of the greatest players.

If this was like who was your "favorite" top 10 then it would be different...but this is who you think was the top 10 greatest players ever. Individual stats alone could distinguish that Maradona was a better player than..let's say...Figo or Zidane etc.

There's not much difference between "Your top 10 footballers of all-time" and "Your favorite top 10 footballers of all-time". Either way either topic is the opinion of the poster so there isn't much difference in the two.

big difference..... Top ten footballer implies the best 10 while your favourite top ten means players you like, for example I like babel alot. I would put him I my favorite top ten but he is not where near the top ten footballers of all time

Everyone appears to be very calm in this thread. This is a message board where opinions are going to be posted, surely you realize this. No one is trying to make anyone redo anything, I am just commenting just like the hundreds of other people.

There are times when it's better not to post your opinion. Surely you realise this? One of those times is when you go into a thread and try to take away the point. If people want to post players they've never seen before, I don't think they care that you find that wrong.

What I'm saying is, since we can't say players we haven't watched (pele, mara, di stefano) can't be in our top10 list because he have never seen them play first hand....then there is possibly no way to determine that Messi is one of the greatest ever right? (Just for the people who think if you didn't watch the player then you can't consider him a great)

I don't get why some people say we shouldn't include players who we have never seen live.

I might have never seen the likes of Maradona or Pele live but I have certainly seen plenty of highlights and lots of goals that both men have scored and I feel that it is enough to include them in my overall top 10 list.
