this way teams involved arent playing thursday in place miles away and then their league on the weekend
i think this would be more appealing to teams

If you play in the Europa League, you will play on a Sunday/Monday.

and also the odds of playing wednesday and saturday is low. tuesday and saturday is the norm. also you travel alot more in europa league and teams have smaller squads

Are you implying that England to Ukraine is farther in the Europa League than it is in the Champions League?

Few years ago we played Thursday then SATURDAY LUNCHTIME AWAY TO CHELSEA... and if I remember correctly, we were away for the european game as well. So no, it's not always that. Plus when we played Carling Cup final against United we played Monday-Thursday-Sunday.Dan wrote:ViVaRooney wrote:Dan wrote:A* for utter stupidity. It's the prize money that's the problem. It was a Thursday and it's always stuck in my mind because of how pissed off I was at the scheduling, either Sky could show it on Sunday or European game scheduled for Wednesday.Dan wrote:easley91 wrote:Few years ago we played Thursday then SATURDAY LUNCHTIME AWAY TO CHELSEA... and if I remember correctly, we were away for the european game as well. From last season it is.
You sure it was a Thursday game? Because sometimes there are Wednesday games for no apparent reason.

The problem with a 17:00 kick off is that people will struggle to get off work to make the game on time. This would lead to worse crowds.
Uefa should just schedule the games on tuesdays and wednesdays to alternative weeks to the Champions League.

It was before the reformatting of the Europa League though when it was the UEFA Cup, so they've probably kept it since it changed.Dan wrote:easley91 wrote:It was a Thursday and it's always stuck in my mind because of how pissed off I was at the scheduling, either Sky could show it on Sunday or European game scheduled for Wednesday.Dan wrote:easley91 wrote:Few years ago we played Thursday then SATURDAY LUNCHTIME AWAY TO CHELSEA... and if I remember correctly, we were away for the european game as well. That's shit. They've made sure it doesn't happen now, they plan fixtures way in advance which is why we've played on a Sunday so much and still are.
