Flops and Successes of the Season Empty Flops and Successes of the Season

Post by crump Sun May 08, 2011 7:02 pm

So, name the flops and successes of the season for any club, just make sure you make it clear what league and club it is.

    Premier League

    Successes

Odemwingie - Kept WBA up this season and has been amazing infront of goal.
Chicarito - Been brilliant for someone knownone had heard of hardly. Much better than Bebe.
Chamakh - Not bad for a free transfer, made a flying start to the season, hasn't been as good in the secon half.
van Der Vaart - Carried Spuds this season

    Flops

Dzeko - One goal, and for the potential he has he's been poor. Hopefully he'll improve next season.
Torres - Same as Dzeko really.

I'll add to this list as I remember.

    Successes:
Danny Graham, Watford. Finished as the Championship's top goal-scorer with 24 goals.
Gareth Bale, Spurs. Has had a great season and won PFA player of the year.
David Luiz, Chelsea. Although his defending is suspect at times, he's strengthed the Chelsea backline and chipped in with 2 goals aswell.

I think it is unfair to put players who only joined in January.

Rodwell has kind of been a flop... such a promising pre-season and at the end of last season as well. Hasn't really done anything this season

I disagree with Chamakh, he wasn't free he had huge signing on fee, and he's pretty shit.

    Success:
Ben Coker - Was a builder and playing for Amatuer side Bury Town this time last year, too be first team at Colchester.
Andy Bond - Signed from Barrow and has been great at the start of the season, chipping in with 7 goals and is a Centre Mid.
Ian Henderson - Never really made an impact in League Two but all of a sudden is amazing at League One level.

    Failures:
Dave Mooney - 9 Goals in like 40 apperances and being on loan from Reading, that is quite poor tbh.

Nikica Jelavic. Didn't sign till the very end of august was injured for 4-5 months and has still managed to score 14 goals. Including twice winning goal of the week on SSN. One as spectacular bicycle kick and the other a precision overhead kick. Smile

    Leeds:

Lichaj, Schmeichel and Sam have been good and McCormack and Nunez look like they will show their worth next season. Bessone, Collins, Paynter, McCartney and Livermoore have been flops. The rest are in between.

Our only flop has been Danny Drinkwater from Man Utd.

    Utter shit.

Our team is small and 14 players have made their debut this season.....so for us to finish mid table is a success...perhaps could've done better though as we died out at the end.

    rofl you serious?

VDV is far too inconsistent and because of him the team gets unbalanced, either he plays behind a striker which means only 1 striker or he plays wide and he is useless there

@Blackskar: He isn't good enough to start games but is a good squad player. Early on this season I would say he has been a flop but he has evened out over the season.
