So, I just defeated the Pokemon League with Electabuzz (level 50), Golduck (level 47), Pidgeot (level 51), Rhydon (level 45), Venusaur (level 43), Flareon (level 47).
These were their levels after I defeated the League. Of all Pokes, Flareon impressed me the most troughout the game. His attacking stat is astonishing. He's not your typical fire-type. Shadow Ball ate those two Gengars in the League.
Venusaur is a right tank, btw. ATM, Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf and Growth. I use Sleep Powder first > Leech Seed > (Sleep Powder >) Growth 2x > Sleep Powder > Razor Leaf, done. Mostly survive without a scratch thanks to Leech Seed. He was a bit useless in the League, though, that's why he's underleveled.
Rhydon killed Gary's Charizard rather easily in the end. Charizard was level 63, Rhydon 45. Charizard started with a Fire Blast, got me into deep yellow and a burn. I had already selected Rock Blast, but thanks to the burn it only did half damage in the end and it only hit twice. I had to use my last Full Restore on him. Charizard then used Aerial Ace, then used Fire Blast, which got me into deep yellow again, but Rock Blast'd him away after that. Shame he lacks special defense and speed, because this Poke is damn good against the right opponent.
Pidgeot was actually decent. I couldn't use him a lot, because of his weaknesses and lack of decent stats, but when called upon, he never disappointed. Featherdance helps a bunch to survive a few more turns. Wing Attack is decent, as is Fly (I somehow prefer to use Wing Attack). Quick Attack to give that little extra damage against faster or higher leveled Pokes. I wouldn't really recommend to use a Pidgeot, but if you do try and you don't expect much from it, as did I, then he'll do okay.
I do recommend Flareon, Rhydon and Electabuzz. Flareon kicks ass, but never gets picked as Eevee evolution. Rhydon is just awesome. Really helps you out a lot. Electabuzz is just cool. Magneton might be a better choice, but looks stupid. Raichu looks cool, but after a while I got bored of it. Electabuzz gives you something new, as you'd normally not use it.
Pidgeot is down to preference. Might want go for a Fearow, Dodrio, Golbat (Crobat) or whatever. Same counts for Venusaur. I guess he's the least obvious choice of the three starters, but he's an excellent tank. Golduck is fun to use, looks cool, but lacks decent stats. There are better water Pokemon out there, like the Lapras you get in-game, Slowbro, Dewgong or Vaporeon.
Might continue tomorrow, catch up some Pokes, get the national Pokedex and enter the Islands. I want to catch me a Larvitar.
Electabuzz and Golduck were fun to use. Never trained them before and they were actually very decent. They both have excellent offensive stats, but they lack decent defense and special defense stats.
