If Torres scores several goals or even becomes top scorer of the EPL next season and Chelsea win at least one trophy, a lot of people on this forum are going to look like complete dicks.

not true. Last season everyone made fun of Berbatov and this year he is the leading goal scorer in the entire league and most people still don't take him seriously. I think if he scored like 40 goals people would still make jokes about him..I don't get it.

you don't get it? Sir Alex doesn't trust the guy over Hernandez even if he is the top scorer. Surely that says alot.

he ain't a consistent goal scorer he'll score like 5 in one game...next 10 matches he'll score nothing and then he'll score 4.

To be honest though, even when Berbatov hasn't scored this season he's had great performances an impacts on the team, when he went like 9 games without a goal he only had like 1 or 2 bad games in it.

He's upped his game a lot.

with Rooney you knew he was going to start scoring goals again - with Torres I don't see it

He's not changed since the World Cup. People put it down to fitness, he got his fitness back. People put it down to confidence and he'll change one he scored, he scored. People put it down to him being unhappy at Liverpool, he got the move he wanted.

Exactly he's not even that good, if you're looking at statistics then yeah he sounds like a good player. But in all honestly, despite a few moments of brilliance he's still Berbaflop.

Makes a change if his control is good. Even at his blistering best his first touch was often woeful...he was strange. Would say he had good technique yet a bad first touch at the same time, if that's possible.

Looked a bit better last night.

maybe the guy needs a good break from football for a while - maybe this summer he'll get one, along with a proper pre-season

Not as much as Torres. There was more pressure on Torres for sure because of the cunt way he went about things.

But you can't deny there was a lot of pressure of AC9 too. He went from his hometown club and stepped up to a bigger club. By most people's standards, excluding the past few years Torres went to a smaller club. He has been injured before just getting fit just as Torres was. He has played better and scored, Torres is rubbish and hasn't scored.

Yeah Torres is England's most expensive transfer ever but Carroll is also the most expensive British player transfer ever.

He's consistently good wherever he's gone..he helps even when he doesn't score. And how is he inconsistent? look at his ratio, it's good. He plays in the best league in the world on one of the best teams in the world and is their leading goal scorer and still gets hated on..makes no sense.

Not if Spain decide to take part in Copa America. Torres hasn't had a summer off since 2007
