"Egypt is not good at the world stage"
- Although that might have been true years ago, that's not really the case right now. The current Egyptian generation is highly experienced and can perform against the world's top teams. The reason people might have this misconception is because Egypt have failed to reach the World Cup since 1990. But if you think about it, failure to qualify from Africa says nothing about your ability to compete with the world. Just as the African Cup of Nations, the World Cup qualifications only feature African teams. There are many more reasons as to why Egypt can't qualify to the World Cup; one of them is not their lack of ability to compete with other teams.
"The Egyptian Premier League is highly uncompetitive"
- Again, this isn't true depending on how you define competitive. Ahly have won the last six league titles, but their domination has been slipping away at both the Egyptian and African level. Despite the first place position not changing over six years, every other position in the table has been inconsistent. Zamalek, which are considered the second strongest club in Egypt, have placed 6th, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 2nd over the past six years. Ismaily, considered the third best club, have placed anywhere from 2nd to 4th over the six years. In 2009 they lost the title to Ahly in a playoff match after being tied in points with Ahly after the last matchday. Former second division teams like Petrojet and the other company owned clubs have secured their positions in the top flight and have even challenged for the title in the first half of the seasons.
"Messi is weak"..."Messi is poor at heading"..."Messi is poor at long range shots & freekicks"
- Messi is one of the strongest players on the ball in the world. His ball control is amazing, even when he has half the defense hacking at his feet as he flows through them like water. Defenders twice his size literally grab on him, yet Messi rarely goes down and still manages to keep the ball at his feet. Despite his small stature, Messi has quite the leap. He has scored several headers in his career including the memorable header against Manchester United in the Champions League final. Messi is also good at long range shots and freekicks. He is much more effective at freekicks then Cristiano Ronaldo. In additino, a couple of months ago, an article claimed that Messi has scored more goals outside the box than Ronaldo has.
