I don't even think he was properly fit. Was saying it during the world cup that he shouldn't have started.

Don't know why we're talking about World Cup performances.

Re: Wayne Rooney vs Fernando Torres
Did you watch the derby and the game against Man Utd? With Kenny in charge hes a completely different player, he just wasn't happy under Roy is all, his attitude was great, he was chasing down lost causes, he might not have had the best games but he certainly tried his best, he worked his butt off despite having no service.dena wrote:I still stand by what I said, obviously Torres is a service type striker and w/o Gerrard in best form he will suffer. But that doesn't excuse his general performances to me, when he doesn't score he seems petulant, disinterested, and when he does score (Chelsea - Blackpool etc.) he can't keep it up. After ten minutes in the Blackpool game he was invisible.

Yeah, thought he didn't do much vs. United, even pressuring the CBs. And like I said about the B'pool game, he went blank after he scored. I've watched every game under Daglish and I don't see a massive difference. Even if I did, three games doesnt excuse half a season of poor performances does it? Overall he's still been pretty bad.

No way. Berbatov has been no where near Rooney of last season. He's has been good this season with his goal scoring but he way way better with his touches and link up play in his first season. Some of his touches were more orgasmic than the goals. I remember the one he did against West Ham a couple of seasons ago to set up Ronaldo, That was just brilliant.

The only reason Rooney isn't at his best is because he was on drugs.

I dont see how taking drugs will effect performances after you have recovered from them. Plus what kind of drugs? It must have been injected, something like heroine. Also if he was on drugs and admitted it he would be banned from playing. FIFA would probably investigate. They do drug tests for a reason - if you take them you get a massive ban.
Rooney was not on drugs imo.

And he doesn't want to give his source because he's afraid that the Wikileaks, Goal.com and The Sun spies floating around our forum will put it on the front page immediately therafter.

Torres.
Although Rooney contributes more to the team when he isn't scoring goals I suppose, but he's a striker so he needs to score. Torres wins.

Re: Wayne Rooney vs Fernando Torres
He wasn't though, he was sluggish, had heavy/poor touches wasn't even close to being match fit, in both cases Liverpool and Spain had bothed rushed Torres back too soon which affected his game. If you have Torres available to you, telling you hes ready to play upfront with Villa having seen what they could do in Euro 08, wouldn't you play him?The-Reporter wrote:After playing the first few games im pretty sure he would be match fit. Re: Wayne Rooney vs Fernando Torres
Tough one this.
I'd say Rooney purely because he offers more then just a goal scorer, and even when Rooney's off form he is still a threat. Unlike Torres, when hes not playing well he's pretty much useless.
Still, the English media overates Rooney beyond belief, we've actually had him compared to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. He isn't THAT good.

Evans couldn't have asked for an easier return to the team, in hindsight obviously.
