What a tough one, both have been shit overall. Torres may have scored more goals (havent looked at the stats) but Rooney's recent form (despite no goals) is getting better, I guess I'd say Torres? It's like asking what would you rather have for breakfast, cow shit, or pig shit.

You never hated Rooney for making a complete full of Manchester.United and for not trusting one of the greatest manager's ever and for basically saying he did not think his team mates where good enough, if he wanted to move he could have done it in a better way without coming out with all his bullshit and for not trusting Fergie and thinking United would not be challenging at the top is a pure insult.

that whole media bullshit was fake, total shit created by SAF and Manchester United to blow away the Rooney hooker thing and stop having the media follow him and colleen around. so they send him on a trip and work their magic and it worked.

How do you know though?

Rooney is typically judged on his all around play where as Torres is solely judged on his goals or lack there of.

This season I would say Rooney has been better, especially once you considered what he has done for a United team that is unbeaten and winning or drawing even when they don't play well and he isn't scoring openly.

I think even when not at their best they show what they're about. Torres is a better striker, Rooney is a better player.

Rooney is looking much more a proper number 10 than an out and out striker this season. Even though last season he was top class up on his own he just hasn't got it back.

I voted Rooney because when he's played he has been a much better player than Torres. When Torres has not scored he's not done anything else for the team either.

I think its a bit harsh to say Torres has been shit, Torres is a striker that feeds off the rest of the team, when the rest of the unit isn't pulling their weight he suffers. That being said he can still conjure up moments of individual brilliance like the Chelsea performance but he needs the service, when he gets that service theres not a defender or keeper in the EPL that can stop him (unless hes having an off game ).

There were times where Torres was complete and utter shit in 2010. It was due to fitness usually. He may suffer from a lack of service at times at Liverpool, but what's his excuse for his shit performance for country? He was useless in the World Cup and it's hard to argue it was due to a lack of service. He wasn't fit. That's the problem with him. His fitness frequently fails him.
Rooney hasn't exactly been a warrior of late either, though. They're both overpaid.

A few people, said he was awful, basically shit but a more polite word. :p

Its a good point menalawyerguy makes. Torres was bollocks at the world cup even with the spain team around him. No excuses really. I don't think he'll ever be as prolific as he was when he first came to Liverpool but i think if he had a decent strike partner between them they could be world beaters.

Everybody knows he was bollocks at the world cup but he was also unfit at the world cup, hes only just began to get some match fitness this season and hes only just started to get back to around 100% in my opinion. Hes already shown glimpses of his former self, all of his goals have been top notch, no tap ins but spectacular stuff, he just needs more time and better service. Roy's tactics didn't play to Torres's strengthes and hes more happy now under Dalglish, I think we'll see the best of Torres to come this season.

Don't really wanna reveal my source and how I know, but it's true trust me. Infact I'll PM you later today when I get home, am in college at the moment so...

I still stand by what I said, obviously Torres is a service type striker and w/o Gerrard in best form he will suffer. But that doesn't excuse his general performances to me, when he doesn't score he seems petulant, disinterested, and when he does score (Chelsea - Blackpool etc.) he can't keep it up. After ten minutes in the Blackpool game he was invisible.

You're saying Torres was not fit at the world cup? Im pretty sure the Spain manager wouldn't start players who are not fit at the world cup finals. He started almost every game, if he wasn't fit he wouldn't have made the bench.

He wasn't match fit, just had an injury and was coming back.
