The problem with this theory is that most players in the Barcelona team grew up watching Guardiola, and were Barcelona fans or academy players, whereas no current Liverpool players had even been born when Dalglish started his Liverpool career, and very few of them were even 10 years old when he retired. Moreover, most of them grew up in other countries watching other clubs - Raul Meireles, Torres, Maxi Rodriguez, Dirk Kuyt, Torres, Reina, Agger, if you had asked them who Dalglish was before they signed for Liverpool most of them wouldn't have had a club, Dalglish never even won a Ballon d'Or. Even the English players old enough to have vague memories of Dalglish, Carragher and Gerrard, would have hardly idolised them, being Everton fans.

You do know Gerrard signed a contract for Liverpool when he was eight?ResurrectionRooney wrote:The problem with this theory is that most players in the Barcelona team grew up watching Guardiola, and were Barcelona fans or academy players, whereas no current Liverpool players had even been born when Dalglish started his Liverpool career, and very few of them were even 10 years old when he retired. You can't sign a contract in England and Wales when you're 8.

He joined the Reds' youth academy at the age of nine.
Close enough.

So apart from the fact he didn't sign a contract until he was 16 at least, and he didn't even join the youth Academy when he was 8, you were spot on with your assertion that he signed a contract at 8. Well played.
Presumably he also signed a contract with Man Utd, after all, he had a trial.

Well whoever this guy is, his point is looking slightly off. Hopefully he ends up being completely wrong.
