Re: UEFA Team Of The Year
Why are all these calls for Rooney. Assuming this is a calendar year, Rooney only player for January, and February, was injured in March, and was crap for the rest of it. Hardly inspiring.

Sorry but I can't see it.
Think there are many strikers that have been better mainly Eto'o and Forlán.

Drogba not really lol, maybe if you considered the whole 2009/2010 season then yes, but this goes from january 2010, also the reason why Rooney did not make it.

You are saying Honda had a nice WC, meaning he should be there...just because of WC he should be there right?Danny B wrote:chiboygeorge wrote:And Rooney wasn't but he still should be there...Danny, you are one of them that say "World Cup" isn't everything..why you going against it?Danny B wrote:chiboygeorge wrote:Bonucci? I dunno, maybe he played well for CSKA. From what I saw of him (WC), I'd say there's not too much wrong with him being there

Re: UEFA Team Of The Year
Don't personally get why it's always the same people mentioned (and eventually go on to win, surprise surprise) in these things.
Cole has been good yes, but better than the season before last? Really? He's been more or less about the same. Then you have Coentrao, who's had a breakthrough season. He's come a long, long way to get where he is right now. Will he win it? Probably not, it'll most likely go to Cole/Evra again regardless.
Same goes for pretty much all the other "usual suspects" apart from Messi and, only just Ronaldo, cause they are always topping their previous season.
To me, these things are sort of stupid because it's not really implemented correctly. You pretty much end up with another World XI, which isn't really what this particular award is meant to be.
Or maybe I've got this award all wrong. I thought it was for players who've excelled their previous season performances, majority of the players mentioned on that list haven't done that.
Should probably stop taking these awards so seriously but it does do my head in when it's the same people all the time.

Re: UEFA Team Of The Year
Would explain why it was the same players all the time, I guess. Although I think they should consider the previous season when it comes to these things. Should compare and see if they have played significantly better than the previous season. Would make these awards a lot more fair imo.Jamie wrote:Isn't it just the best performers during the year Marvin?

And I just noticed that the nominees for central midfield are kinda weak tbh. I don't recall any of them having a stand out season.
I can't tell if that's unbridled sarcasm or just utter retardation.
Hope it's the former.
