Having said that, looking at a list of episodes, I couldn't really pick out any weak ones.  The Christmas Special was brilliant as well.

Are you right there is fucking superb.  "It's not the Greeks he's after, it's the Chinese" "Well as long as I can have a go at the fecking Greeks.  They invented gayness!"

The Passion of St. Tibulus is also brilliant.

    Yeah, that's another great one.

I got halfway through season 5 of It's Always Sunny and just lost interest. The episodes are just too similar and the clever jokes are few and far between with most of the humour coming from sort of slapstick comedy.

I went to my first "party" tonight, and I have to ask, is alcohol really that great of a social tool?  Surely the whole point of socializing is to create and strengthen relationships with others-yet from what I saw, the moment the alcohol came out, basically every conversation ended and the teetotalers are left sipping water while they watch human beings they thought they knew act like idiots.  I always hear that alcohol is this great magic wand that makes every social situation outrageously entertaining, but is that really the case? think  I wished my friend happy birthday, thanked her for the generous cup of water, and left within an hour.

A most un-Glen-like response if I do say so, Glen.

I'm in the same boat. The concept of a drinking culture is something I can't grasp. It smacks of social conditioning. I remember a conversation with a friend where he said drinking beer was an acquired taste, or basically that he just kept drinking it until he liked it.

Besides the odd glass of wine at family gatherings (2/3 times a year), the only alcoholic beverage I've had in, say, the past six years, is a half a glass of vodka, just to try it out. Ghastly stuff.

Depending on the sort of person you hang out with it's probably worth less than the amount of social capital you've lost from people thinking you're a boring dick who takes his magic books too seriously.

It depends on how much you drink. I find this Mitchell and Webb sketch very true to reality. The first few drinks are always the best. 4-5 shots of vodka is probably the best amount for me. Around that level I get a mild euphoric feeling and get talkative with less inhibitions.

The problem is that people don't stop at that level, they enjoy the feeling so they just chase it and keep drinking until it's unpleasant. It's easily done and after a certain amount I don't feel like talking any more, I get depressed and don't really feel like doing anything. There may be some formula to maintain the first feeling by topping up gradually, but I haven't found it yet. Maybe you can only get it once per night.

I am sorry, but cretin-Jay (the most dangerous of the 3 Jays) does not deserve humoring.

Wine is the only alcohol I could ever see myself drinking in the future-people say it tastes good, and it also has a touch of class about it.  Drinking for Dutch courage or to escape the pressures of life-those ideas just don't sit easily with me, mainly because life isn't that bad for a university student.  Especially when the drinkers confess that the cheap alcohol they drink tastes like something close to urine.

Alcohol tops that surely? Can't think of a drug which causes more death/damage than alcohol that is so accepted. And add to that the fact that people who drink little or none are thought to be abnormal.

Well alcoholics are still generally looked down on. When people talk about how they "need" their morning coffee, no one really finds that strange.

Or when they ask you for your reasons.  I don't want to show what a judgmental chap I am, but "I just don't want to" doesn't cut it either.  think
