vel wrote:penaldo can't re-invent his game because the most major facets of his games are already so disgustingly bent which has allowed him to concentrate his worth solely on end product. he is usually a periphery figure in the second and third phases so his teammates can give him the ball so he can take a shot. it's been his game for the past 5 years, you can't just fix it magically. it takes a transition period and i'm sure whoever will be paying him €500k a week doesn't want him to become a 8/10 player at all phases rather than a 10/10 player in one phase. penaldo is just an anomaly, quite simply. I have never seen a player like him in my lifetime (in a bad way).

He was easily Mehdrid's best player yesterday but that was when he was on the right, dribbling and getting involved all throughout the pitch. He used his typical free role but he did it in a way to make Bale and Fatzema the central figures in attack...and look how it worked out. mans creates two great chances for Fatzema and he bottles them both rofl

pace is a huge part of Penaldo's game, he basically plays as a SS for Mehdrid and so he gets the opportunity to drive from space because there is always someone occupying the central defenders. he has played as a sole #9 countless times and he has never, ever been as good as he has been in his free role. he doesn't work well without the space to run.

that's the biggest difference between Penaldo and Messi. Messi is a 10/10 player in transitioning, creating and goalscoring. Penaldo is a 10/10 player only in goalscoring.

i will bet my e-reputation that Penaldo won't be able to reinvent himself as a lone #9. i am never wrong about Calcio so i'm not worried tbh

He's not worth listening to. Anyone who thought David Moyes was the man for United should give up talking about football and take up a simpler sport like snap.

I agree with him. Fabregas has the luxury of playing alongside Matic and the best defence in the league. If he was at Arsenal he would have been exposed a lot more.

I said that Fàbregas was always out of position on reddit after the game against Leicester and I was downvoted to like -34, one of the replies to me being something like "so you know more about football than Mourinho" and he was at like +26

I'd say it's probably because 99% of people don't pay attention to a players positioning at all, especially midfielders. Unless you criticize him with something that's obviously noticeable people will just think you're a h8r.

I actually rarely pay attention to positioning tbh.

I would rather give up some space from Cesc being undisciplined in his positioning if it results in the attacking performances he's given so far. Matic is usually so good it rarely hurts us anyhow

I think his point was it's okay to do that against smaller teams, but it might hurt against the bigger ones. Obviously the solution put forward was to put Ramires on and make it a 3 man midfield, which Mourinho might do against City.

I dont think Ramires is all that better positionally, he's pretty much the definition of a headless chicken. I suppose Mikel is an option for a defensive 2 in midfield.

Fabregas is probably used to attack the ball from his Barcelona days. Mou in have him coloring inside the lines by the new year.

I've said it before, Villa are just an average team. I'm amazed that they gave Lambert a new deal, he is a totally uninspiring manager. Maybe he just cashed in on a tiny bit of good form at the start of the season, but I honestly can't see him leading them to anything other than mediocrity. Villa have the potential to be a decent side in the league too, they could be like an Everton or Tottenham if they got a decent manager and spent a bit of money.
