Somebody should superimpose Fred's face over Rik Mayall's in this pic, and then put a bunch of diving Freds at the bottom. I'd do it myself but I got no skillz.

Holy crap, I was trying to forget the incident, so I didn't even realise the wanker appealed for it. Pathetic. I hope he's completely anonymous the rest of the matches like he was in this game.

Good to see Itandje's careers got back on track after Dalglish's vendetta.

Mexico just got fucked. That was not offside. They should be pissed. I'm happy.

I sympathise with the ref on that second one, its virtually impossible to tell who got the touch, especially in those conditions from as far away as he was.

Can one be offside if the deflection was off a defending player? I have not watched football in ages.

Are you fucking joking? This referee is from Colombia, do FIFA not remember the war between Mexico and Colombia in 1886? No wonder Mexico are being robbed here.

Surely if you don't really know, you should side with the attacker? Isn't that how it works?

No, one can't.Roloman4 wrote:Can one be offside if the deflection was off a defending player? I have not watched football in ages.
No, referees rarely really know about any decision, they have to give whichever one they think is most likely on balance of probabilities.Cam wrote:Surely if you don't really know, you should side with the attacker? Isn't that how it works?

To be fair, neither should Mexico. The USA pulled them out of the fire at the death of qualifying. Shouldn't have done that.Keyser Söze wrote:Cameroon shouldn't even be at these finals.

Not sure if srs.
Who would ref England games if this was the case?

The first disallowed goal for Mexico was probably a correct call. But that second one, was clearly onside.

Re: World Cup 2014 discussion thread.
No, the first one was definitely wrong. It was a close call, but replays show that he was definitely onside.FCB wrote:The first disallowed goal for Mexico was probably a correct call. But that second one, was clearly onside.
The second call was also very tough because it's hard to tell in realtime who touched it before it gets to the goal-scorer. But replays show that that call was wrong as well. Of course, instant replay would fix all these calls but FIFA don't want that. Thus, we get to laugh as Mexico wallows in anger. Thank fuck for that.

Fair point, a lot of refs would clearly favour England cause we saved them from barbarism and gave them tea.

I disagree with you on the first one.
Gio is leaning back with his butt. It's clearly behind the two defenders around him. However, the second to last defender is the one near the edge of the penalty area. It's tough to say if his body is keeping Gio's butt onside or not. I'm not saying it was clearly offside, but I wouldn't say it's clearly onside either.

Take that Colombia! Even with that biased referee Mexico still score.
