What excuses? What I said was true, he'd beat a couple of players and then run into a dead end due to having no support/being completely crowded out the game. Same goes for Welbeck, except Welbeck couldn't even beat one player, let alone two.

Rooney on the other hand, was finally playing in his favoured position, yet missed a header from 1 foot away and also shot straight at the keeper with a free shot, when it would have actually been easier to score.

Bit harsh to blame him for that header, I don't see how he could have done better unless he was just a taller person. The height he jumped was crazy as it was, he just couldn't get above the ball enough to direct it down.

He shut his eyes like a beta phaggot and hoped for the best.

Rule number 1 when heading the ball: Don't shut your eyes.

He could have directed it into the goal had he kept his eyes on the ball the whole time. Shut his eyes at the key moment, and from there on, it's guesswork.

Way too harsh. I thought Rooney was England's best player, although that's not saying much because no one really performed that well..

Rooney should have scored three, which is a testament to his movement and involvement but an indictment of his finishing.

I thought the header was a tough one and he was unlucky to hit the underside of the bar, the second opportunity in the box definitely should've been a goal.

It wasn't Suarez's anticipation, or the defenders sleeping and him run past, it was Gerrards fault for not being 7ft

Obviously it was mainly Gerrard's fault for heading the ball there, but if the defenders were actually alert to Suarez it might've been a different story. They just watched him run past

They were trying to play him offside while approaching the ball in case Gerrard missed it.

It's an automatic reaction to shut your eyes the moment you make contact with the ball. You see it in every slow motion replay.

The moment it makes contact, yes. Not earlier.

He needed to make himself much bigger for the second one, and come out of the goal more to reduce Suarez's chances of getting it past him at a tight angle.

In all honestly Italy didn't play any better than this against England, Costa Rica have just defensively dealt with them much better. It also helps that Costa Rica don't have Henderson and Gerrard in midfield to allow Italy 93.2% pass completion  rofl
