i can't see Rakitic playing Xavi's role that well either. Rakitic can dominate matches but with his more direct style. He's always looking forward and he's clearly more restricted when forced to play deeper, like he was with Croatia. Fibreglass was doing well dominating Mule League from midfield but he's a lot closer to Rakitic than he is to Xavi.
Rakitic is good enough to play for Barça, but he's not the right fit for his system so I can see him having Barça-AIDS for a season or two like Alexis did. Rakitic was at his best last season orchestrating direct attacks like Alexis was when he was GOAT with Toto (
) and he took a couple of seasons to get more in sync with the more restrictive philosophy of Barça
