Olympique Marseille have confirmed they have agreed the sale of Loic Remy to Newcastle United.

It is understood Newcastle's offer is £8.6 million with the striker now set to hold talks and undergo a medical with the Magpies as he seeks to finalise a move to the North East.

Speaking to RMC Sport, president Vincent Labrune said: "We have an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Remy. Loic can negotiate with them."

Interesting how no one else was really seriously interested. 8.3 million isn't all that much for a decent striker.

Well he's scored something like 8 goals in 90 games and is just back from a serious injury.

A member on another forum brought up a good point about Forren. Everton Football Club is apparently interested in him; he must have shown signs of being a hoofball merchant for that club to have acquired any interest in him.

This is both good and bad news for us, on one hand you're beating us to a good centre back, on the other it could mean you're out of the race to sign Davide Astori.

Newcastle offered Remy £60,000 a week.

QPR have offered Remy £95,000 a week (basic), with goal bonuses and bonuses for avoiding relegation ...

If I was offered both I think I'd take the QPR offer. Worst case scenario they're relegated and he can probably whinge his way into a loan move as they try and lower their wage bill.

Newcastle is a good club, but I don't think steady premier league survival is better than a fuck load more money.

It's worth survival next year though, cos of the new tv deals, it means that they'll get so much more money so it's worth a gamble to stay up

QPR would be mental to not put a relegation release clause in his contract.

I dunno, it just seems as though everything is: 'X team are interested in Y player, but Southampton are the favorites'

I've said that once, I believe, and that was 5 minutes ago.. I'm not exactly gonna post small transfers that have nothing to do with Southampton, am I?
