So You're by a train track... Empty So You're by a train track...

Post by Guest Thu Sep 20, 2012 2:21 am

.. and there are 4 people strapped to the track. 3 on one part and 1 is on another part that veers off to the right. There is a train approaching and you cannot untie them, the train is heading for the 3 people, but you can change the tracks so that the train runs over the 1 person.

What do you do? Pull the lever and kill 1 person or do nothing and let 3 people die?

    I would probably run away.

Would question myself to be put into that situation though.

Question the security of the train company which allows random people access to the levers.

Let 1 die or let 3 die? None of who you know, is this a serious question?

If you think you'd be charged with murder or something, you wouldn't.

Nobody could live with choosing to let 3 die over 1 if you never knew them.

It's the same fucking thing. Either you do nothing and let three people die or do something and let one person die.

You can get charged with murder if you stand next to somebody who stabs somebody else, you didn't stop it. Just as bad as doing it, I swear you completely don't understand this entire concept.

no you are confusing yourself, you're actions (pulling the lever) directly lead to that one person dying.

Yes but by you seeing the situation and having the ability to effect the outcome and doing nothing to save those three people you could be charged with 2nd degree murder.

You had the power to save the 3 though, so you just as well murdered them.

Please, get to know the law.

Both cases could be classed as 2nd degree murder, I (and most sane people) would rather save three and get charged with one then save one and get charged with three
