The Faroese Cup final was settled on penalties for the first time, with Víkingur once more getting the better of holders EB/Streymur, winning 5-4 on spot-kicks after a 3-3 draw.

Beaten by the same opponents in the 2009 decider, EB/Streymur came unstuck on penalties in the 2012 Faroese Cup final, with Víkingur prevailing 5-4 on spot kicks after a 3-3 draw.
After ten penalties it was 4-4, and as sudden death began, Bárdur Hansen missed Víkingur's sixth effort only for EB/Streymur goalkeeper René Tórgard to blast the next one over the bar. Erling Jacobsen scored Víkingur's seventh, with striker Arnbjørn Hansen then failing to find the target as the Faroese Cup was decided on penalties for the first time.
Appearing in their sixth successive final, having won all but one of the previous five, EB/Streymur picked up the pace after a strong Víkingur start, and took the lead through Jónhard Frederiksberg on 31 minutes, but the Gota and Leirvik side recovered after the interval, coming close three times before – on 54 minutes - Hans Jørgen Djurhuus headed them level from close range from Evrard Ble's scissor kick. A handball in the area allowed EB/Streymur to reclaim their lead through a Levi Hanssen penalty (68), but a similar infringement allowed Víkingur captain Atli Gregersen to convert at the other end to make it 2-2 (76).
EB/Streymur led for a third time four minutes into extra time, with Leif Niclasen looping into the net after being played through into the area, but they then had Pætur Dam Jacobsen sent off for a second bookable offence, and Víkingur pressed their advantage, with Hjartvard Hansen scoring from close range after Fritleif í Lambanum flicked a cross into his path with ten minutes to go, forcing a final shoot-out.
This was a quality final and the team I expected to come out on top did not.
