Because reading about the shitty things that happen to everyone else makes us feel better about the shitty things that happen to us.

I never get phone calls, and when I finally get a phone call from someone I like my phone dies in the middle of the conversation. This could only happen to me. FML.

In 11th grade I dropped my pen. I thought no one was looking so I stretched out my hand as if using the force to try and pick it up. Thought no one saw me, but the teacher was looking right at me. Very awkward the rest of the week.
