Bitter much? He was moving forward at all times, which is the rule I think, he never stopped.iSamuel wrote:mauro=beast wrote:actually malta is like a sister state to italy they are our good friends like a familia. plus kuled has common sense he knew italy would smash england and it happened as he predicted

I have Maltese blood and go there for about 4-5 weeks every year. In terms of football, the majority of people support England and actually follow The Premier League more than their own. Italy's first penalty shouldn't be stood, stutters in runs aren't allowed.

He stopped his run, which isn't allowed. Ronaldo did the same to Chelsea in Moscow.
Perhaps it is just the world-cup then, my mistake.MickStupp wrote:First paragraphiSamuel wrote:

"Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted," said Fifa's Jerome Valcke.iSamuel wrote:Perhaps it is just the world-cup then, my mistake.MickStupp wrote:

Gerrard did well in the circumstances, we were overrun by a better team and had useless players out wide.Theo Filippo wrote:Gerrard - 32 passes, 75% passing accuracy, 15.6% Long pass accuracy

England beat expectations in this tournament by employing very boring and more importantly, very defensive tactics. It just shows that parking the bus requires far less talent; and players or teams should not be praised for winning games or titles this way. England fans might be "happy" that they beat expectations in this tournament and narrowly lost to Italy, but surely you can understand the frustration and hate coming from others. It was bad enough seeing a team like Chelsea win the Champions League with the equivalent of giving football the middle finger. If England were going to try something similar, it was in the interest of non-English football fans to see them fail. Imagine if England had succeeded. Any team with talents less than England's (which is plenty of teams) would be encouraged to try these tactics. Sooner or later, matches that have uneven teams will be extremely boring. It has nothing to do with jealousy or xenophobia towards the English.
Having said that, Hodgson shouldn't get the sack or be extremely criticized. But he shouldn't be praised either.

Whose expectations? They were always going to get out of that group.

It's ironic too because the Premier League is famed, at leads by it's pundits, for it's high intensity, high pressure style.
