He said he doesn't want to go if hes just going to sit on the bench all the time, he wants to actually play a part.

Let's be honest, chances are he'd sit on the bench and get to watch Parker and Gerrard if he was on the standby list and Lampard pulled out.

Wasn't last day for squads on the 29th or can they really still replace?


Wesley Sneijder picked up a knock on his ankle against Slovakia this evening, interesting to see how that turns out, he doesn't need to get hurt much to put him totally off his game.

If you get injured you can obviously be replaced.

Not sure whether it's just people who were on standby who can replace them, or if players are put on standby when someone in the squad picks up an injury though.

Carroll, Downing, Gerrard, Johnson and maybe Henderson in the England squad.

Thats not an obvious though? In some sports and tournaments once the tournament has been announced with final squads you are just in tough shit if you get injured in the days before the first game. Although i suppose its fair since none of the teams have traveled to Poland yet. (Or Ukraine, unsure if anyone is staying in that place)

If it is possibly i don't think there is any limit on who he can call up to replace with, Henderson might just be the next in line (not sure why)

It's too bad Carrick didn't want to fight for a spot though, pick the easy option by not wanting to go

I don't blame him for not wanting to go. He deserves to be playing, and all he'd be doing (as usual with England) is watching midfielders who haven't played as well as him all season play.
