This season is better trophy wise, but the 09/10 team was better.

That said, I think it's harder to win the Premier League.

Winning the FA Cup and CL double is pretty fucking impressive.

In 09/10 you had a much better team and a much better playing system, but this season has been the most successful

Even if you got relegated winning the CL would have made it your most successful.

It's their most successful in history, let alone "in recent times"

Pardon me, I don't have time to carefully study your profile in order to determine what team you support. I made an educated assumption from the fact you had a Chelsea related avatar and a thread about them that you must be a Chelsea fan. I was wrong.

Abrahamovic required the CL, they got the CL, Abrahamovic happy = Chelsea gets to live on!

I would say yes CL > all. FA cup is a nice touch but ultimately something they have won before.

I'd say winning the league is more of an achievement. You can't be as cagey as Chelsea were for the last 3 CL matches they played, and expect to win a 38 game season. Plus you're playing games usually in isolation in the league, so you have to outright win games rather than carrying over a previous leg advantage (or deficit, I doubt they would have beaten Napoli by three goals in the second leg, given that they didn't in the first, if it wasn't necessary-Napoli clearly relaxed a tad too much).

Also, in 09/10 they won the Community Shield so technically that year was numerically more successful.

The record books will say this season has been their best but those who don't suffer from long term memory loss will always know that they were an embarrassment to themselves for two thirds of the season, and only won each cup because their opponents buttfucked themselves (or in our case were buttfucked by the world's worst manager) in each final

If Chelsea hadn't won the Champions League, how would you have rated their season? Good? Decent? Pretty crappy? Dismal?

Decent imo. Winning the FA cup but not reaching CL football at a club like Chelsea is kinda lame.

It would've been a poor season for them if they hadn't won the final.

Which brings up an interesting observation regarding the fine line that pro sports teams tread: if either Robben or Messi convert their PKs, then Chelsea's greatest season ever would have ended as just a disappointing season of underachievement.

Agreed, the chances of both Messi and Robben missing can't be more than 1%, and either going in would have been terminal, and penalty shootouts in themselves are 60/40 in favour of the side who takes first, in this case Bayern Munich. That's football though, isn't it, that's why we love it. United's season went from being a success to a horrible failure last week when Aguero scored, and vice versa for City, Dalglish might have kept his job if Carroll's header can gone a few centimetres further into the goal.
