Grats, hope they go undefeated too.
Comparing Liverpool to Juventus is quite silly, they got relegated man.

I don't see how that's relevant. The similarities start after they were promoted. Team assured of Champions League qualification improves and comes close to winning the title before suddenly declining and struggles to qualify for any European competition. There are obvious similarities. It's not an insult to either team to say that.

How many guys on this team were also around for the Serie B season?

It's also nice to see a legend like Del Piero retire from football as a champion. Del Piero

We spent horrifically, they spent brilliantly on players like Vidal and Pirlo. That's what separates them.
Plus we play like shit.

Pirlo has been nothing short of exceptional, still one of the best midfielders in the world.

Do Juventus have a quality striker, or am I missing someone?

Can't decide whether it was Chiellini or Pirlo who was the best for Juve, Buffon deserves credit too. They were really fun to watch this season and there's still 2 games left which include a final against Napoli. Can't wait for that one.

Yeah, biggest mistake Milan could have done.Chris wrote:Pretty sure Pirlo went there on a free.Eternal Witcher wrote:We spent horrifically, they spent brilliantly on players like Vidal and Pirlo. That's what separates them.

That's the only thing they are missing, a quality striker. Too many games have Juventus failed to win due to poor finishing, could have been so costly for them. Their top goalscorer is Matri with only 10 goals. I can see someone like Drogba joining them.Eternal Witcher wrote:Do Juventus have a quality striker, or am I missing someone?

Vucinic has scored quite a lot recently, they have Quagliarella and Matri too not that they've been great recently.

Well that changes everything. It still comes under transfers and money.

They seem to have a large squad, I haven't heard of Elia and Krasic for ages, I'm assuming they are still at the club...

Krasic will leave in the summer. If a player doesn't work hard for the team then Conte won't pick him and that's what has happened to Krasic.

Weren't they? Failure to qualify for the Champions League followed by failure to qualify for any European competition. Quite similar to Liverpool, no?
Juventus
2006 - Calciopoli (Cannavaro, Ibrahimovic, Vieira, Lillian Thuram and Zambrotta all left)
2007 - Serie B
2008 - 3rd
2009 - 2nd
2010 - 7th due to piss poor management
2011 - 7th after two managers in one season
2012 - Champions
(Total transfer spend since Calciopoli - ~£120M)
Liverpool
2006 - 4th
2007 - 2nd
2008 - 3rd
2009 - 7th
2010 - 7th
2011 - 6th (Mascherano and Torres leaves, Suarez and Carroll bought to replace Torres)
2012 - 8th? (£100M is spent on new players in less than 2 years)
Other than both having finished 7th twice in a row, Juve's situation was considerably worse and they've handled it considerably better as far as I can tell.
What the fuck?

BladeGunner wrote:I'm pretty sure that those Liverpool rankings are wrong. Liverpool finished third in 2007, fourth in 2008 and second in 2009. They both plummeted from second to seventh in the space of a season and then finished seventh again in the following season. They're clearly similar situations. It's also pretty obvious that Juventus have dealt with their situation considerably better.
Huh.. well still, Juve had it much worse and recovered much quicker.
