Spine of Buffon, Chillieni, Pirlo, Marchisio and Vucinic. They have other quality players like Lichensteiner, Vidal, Pepe and Matri.

To think they were in a similar predicament to us not long ago.

I have to confess I was busy watching some American sports that I wanted to see, but I will post the normal article and my post here. I am also in the process of researching a new article that I will be posting either later tonight or tomorrow.Eternal Witcher wrote:Lock this and let Weather do the honours.

Re: Juventus Champions of Italy
congrats from a Roma fan. juve deserve it
i went with a bunch of friends to watch the directa simulcast at the bar. didn't care much about the title race. but i was devastated that Inter had to win the derby. that means there is mathematically no chance of Roma playing in Europe next season =[

Weren't they? Failure to qualify for the Champions League followed by failure to qualify for any European competition. Quite similar to Liverpool, no?

Re: Juventus Champions of Italy
They also played well against the big teams but dropped points against a lot of weaker teams (In reference to similarities with Liverpool, and this is in previous seasons of course)

Was this season a breakout year for Vucinic? I can't remember him being this good before.

Juventus
2006 - Calciopoli (Cannavaro, Ibrahimovic, Vieira, Lillian Thuram and Zambrotta all left)
2007 - Serie B
2008 - 3rd
2009 - 2nd
2010 - 7th due to piss poor management
2011 - 7th after two managers in one season
2012 - Champions
(Total transfer spend since Calciopoli - ~£120M)
Liverpool
2006 - 4th
2007 - 2nd
2008 - 3rd
2009 - 7th
2010 - 7th
2011 - 6th (Mascherano and Torres leaves, Suarez and Carroll bought to replace Torres)
2012 - 8th? (£100M is spent on new players in less than 2 years)
Other than both having finished 7th twice in a row, Juve's situation was considerably worse and they've handled it considerably better as far as I can tell.

Re: Juventus Champions of Italy
I'm pretty sure that those Liverpool rankings are wrong. Liverpool finished third in 2007, fourth in 2008 and second in 2009. They both plummeted from second to seventh in the space of a season and then finished seventh again in the following season. They're clearly similar situations. It's also pretty obvious that Juventus have dealt with their situation considerably better.

that's an insult. he was a better player when he was at roma and we don't even have pirlo to supply all those through balls. at roma, vucinic was our playmaker and our goalscorer
