People act like Ronaldo is some random scrub, when those(including me) say he's better than Messi. Their usual response is "you don't know anything about football blah blah blah" They have two very different styles so comparing them is a little difficult imo, but it's unavoidable.

Ronaldo played well, went thru the wings with ease leaving Alves, Puyol, and Mascherano in the dust and capped it off with the winning goal.

You don't like Barcelona or Messi though, so it's no surprise. And others that think Ronaldo is better are either Madristas or ManUtd fans. If you look at neutral fans, most of them will say Messi is better. Nearly all football pundits/commentators say the same too. We can't all be delusional or idiots.

I have my reasons to not like Barcelona, like the many on this board do. So you are saying Madristas and United fans are biased, right? Would that make you biased for saying Messi is better? The problem isn't that you and others believe he is better, it's the fact that many act like Ronaldo is a scrub player and that it's not even a close comparison, when it actually is. You can't go wrong with either, it's about preference.

Also, Messi won the Ballon d'Or three years in a row.

Ronaldo is absolute world class and he is probably the 2nd best player in the world and must be up as one of the greatest players to have ever played the game, and know one is saying he is rubbish or just some random footballer he is absolute top class. But anyone who can not see that Easy Lionel Messi is without doubt the greatest player on the planet needs their heads checked out.

Ronaldo might be the better athlete and that does play a part, but for just natural footballing ability Messi is without doubt on a different planet and is one if not thee greatest footballer we have ever seen.

Ronaldo has to compete with other world class goal scorers to get amongst the goals.

Messi is the only world class goal scorer for Barca.

It's obviously going to be difficult for Ronaldo to compete with Messi's tally while Messi is seen as THE focal point of the attack and Ronaldo isn't. Ronaldo is better.

its because ronaldo cant be the focal point.. he cant create things for players consistently

this isnt about who scores more goals lmao, its about who is a better footballer.. and messi is that by a long way compared to ronaldo. messi beats people more consistently, he works for the team with and without the ball and he still scores and assists shit loads of goals. you can like ronaldo more but he will never be as good as messi

Messi has to drop deep to create aswell as score, nearly every clear cut chance Barcelona have created recently Messi has played the killer pass.

Ronaldo doesn't really have to compete for his goals

He takes every free-kick & penalty and takes up whatever position in the box he wants..

As others have mentioned, Messi drops very deep at times and sets up so many goals.

Why is Ronaldo excused because he plays with better goal scorers? With the likes of Benzema & Di Maria I could argue that Ronaldo should probably be scoring even more. These players occupy defenders, leaving more space for himself.
