Dembele is a beast but I've been very disappointed in him since he came to the PL. Shows skill one second then no effort the other.

Better in some qualities. But I can't say Welbeck is in my top 5 Premier League strikers.Chris wrote:Welbeck > Hernandez.Jord wrote:Van Persie

Hernandez is arguably the best finisher in the league bar Van Persie.

Re: Top 5 Strikers In EPL
Don't you think a striker needs more than just the ability to finish though? When Man Utd play Hernandez up top he doesn't do half the stuff in and around the box that Welbeck does, one-touch football, ball retention etc. Welbeck is a good finisher aswell and a far superior all-round striker.Jord wrote:Better in some qualities. Jelavic is also a pretty good striker too, not top five but he's top 10 imo. Never seen him before in Scotland, but in England he seems like a good finisher.

I suppose you're right, but it's just in the back of my mind at the moment. Being a Liverpool fan I would love somebody who could just put the ball in the back of the fucking net

I agree, but at the top of his game he is one of the most gifted players in the world.dena wrote:Glen Damon wrote:Rooney, Berbatov, Van Persie, Dembele (he is a forward, so he counts in my book), Aguero

Not yet I'm afraid. He needs to score goals to be considered a top striker. That might come next season.chiboygeorge wrote:Rooney, Aguero, Van Persie, Suarez, Tevez

Re: Top 5 Strikers In EPL
Knowing Suarez actual ability, I really believe he's top 5. He might not be scoring now but his ability is much better than any other in PL not listed in my list. Can easily beat players and finish very well.Jord wrote:Not yet I'm afraid. He needs to score goals to be considered a top striker. I've not really seen L'Pool this season, but is he getting chances after chances and not scoring or what?

Re: Top 5 Strikers In EPL
Yeah, that's pretty much the case. His finishing has been quite poor this season. He has been unlucky however, hitting the woodwork 6 times.chiboygeorge wrote:Knowing Suarez actual ability, I really believe he's top 5. Like I said maybe next season he'll be a little more prolific.

Jelavic has been pretty shit to be honest. That other day against Arsenal, I think that was the worst performance a striker has ever put up against Arsenal in the EPL
My top 5
RVP
Aguero
Rooney
Ba
Balotelli
---
Then there's players like
Dzeko
Hernandez
Welbeck
Suarez
Sturridge
Berbatov
Drogba
Tevez
Yakubu
Adebayor
Holt
Bent
Defoe
etc.
Jelavic isn't even top 10

It all depends on what your specific team needs are. Take Mario Gomez, for example. Sure, he isn't exactly an "all-around striker," but he bags 30+ goals a season. At the end of the day that's what matters for most teams.

Re: Top 5 Strikers In EPL
Haha lowkey, he's not even top 10, but I guess I was just going off how he's scoring so far. Yes, all those you listed are better (not sure about Grant Holt though ) Some of the strikers he's on level with like Bent, and some of those strikers this season haven't done anything.Grenade wrote:chiboygeorge wrote:Rooney, Aguero, Van Persie, Suarez, Tevez

I might swap Berbatov for Balotelli, if he ever got a chance to play again. Same with Tevez.

Welbeck is quite an average finisher tbh.

He's good at finishing when it comes down to the technical point, it's more about his composure, he panics.Keanoo wrote:Chris wrote:Don't you think a striker needs more than just the ability to finish though?
