MIcrosoft Word Major Issue

Need a really quick response, so sorry for short term inconvenience.

I'm going to put this in steps to make it easier.

I installed Office Home and Student 2010 Trial for Power Point as I needed to do a couple of assignments with PP.

All the Word documents I now created made the Home and Student version of Word the default one to use instead of the MS Word Starter I have on my laptop for ever.

The trial ended yesterday and I un-installed the trial version. Now all my word documents have the little thumbnail of an Orange rectangle.

Is there a way I can make it so all my documents now open with MS Word starter or am I going to have to go into Word and press open with every time?

Help would be massively appreciated.

Right click, Properties and change the "Opens with" to Microsoft Word.

Choose 'Browse' in the Open With box, and navigate to Program Files\Microsoft Office\ and double click winword.exe

It just only lets me choose like WINDOWS, Control Panel, Desktop etc I tried moving the word shortcut into desktop and choosing that but it doesn't work, it just doesn't give me an option to like choose MS Office Starter > Word

Yeah, WINWORD.exe inside the Office14 folder.

It just has ONFILTER.DLL and something called CUSTOM.propdesc

There are no Program files inside Office 14 for me.

This is a long shot, but you should try it anyway. Open the file location of Microsoft Word, remember it and then go through the Browse bit of Open With and locate Word inside there. It should be inside a file called Virtualization Handler.

Open MS Word Starter and click File > Open and find the file.

My mate had the same problem, he tried deleting system 32 but it was only a temporary solution.

Perhaps you're running a 64-bit OS and installed a 32-bit Office starter edition? Then look for Word in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\. Or if you installed it somewhere else, look for it there...

Feel like crying.

I even saved as a document and now all of them have like a blank white document and their type is a DOCX file
