A statement from the hospital is saying that Fabrice Muamba is in "stable" condition

Good, now they can get the game back underway.

There could still be a recurrance of it though if not treated properly. Hopefully that's it and he can come back from it.

How long was he not breathing? Sounds like a long time.

If watching House has taught me anything, even if he is alive and stable now, he could still be fairly brain damaged from even a few minutes without oxygen to the brain.

Yes, stable means he's ok for now. There have been plenty of people who were stable but were left on machines for years

Zzonked said in chat thread he went some 20 minutes without oxygen.

If that's true, then he may not be the same person, never mind footballer, ever again. You do not go 20 minutes without oxygen without some level of brain damage.

Said he went 20+ minutes without breathing. shifty

Like I said, he was probably given oxygen artificially.

Like I said, it wouldn't matter how much oxygen was in his lungs if his heart wasn't pumping any of it anywhere. I am sure they gave him respirators or artificially pumped oxygen to his lungs if that were the problem, but given it was likely a heart attack and they were using defibrillators, breathing wasn't the problem. His heart was the problem.

Fabrice Muamba admitted to heart attack centre at London Chest Hospital, in "critically ill" condition and in intensive care.

Get well soon Fabrice, prayers are with you and family!

No, but in times like this yes. Don't see how whether I pray normally or not matters? Surely it's up to me when I want to pray or not.

Still, I don't go in the chat thread and no other thread had been updated with that news before I posted it. It is the latest update on Muamba, so to say it was outdated is just ridiculous.

Don't think that's even important at the moment, just his well being.

It is sounding increasingly worse the way I'm reading it. He may be brain damaged, on life support, with his family having to make a decision about keeping him on it or not. Really hope I'm wrong about that though.
