    Not necessarily, sounds like he's not breathing on his own but they may be giving him artificial breathing stuff.

    I think people have gone 45 minutes+ without breathing and not gone brain dead, but that's way above average and probably in cold temperatures. I think 10-15 minutes without oxygen and you're supposed to be brain dead.
