Oh do they Laughing ? Are they in £100m of debt, had to completely revamp arguably the worst team in the clubs history in 3 months, lost pretty much an entire first XI in the Summer and had to get almost an entirely new one?

Our team today at Leeds cost less than £10m. We've spent net, I would say probably less than £5m this season.

I take it you are in the fantasy land where individual players brought in = instant success? Well I'm sorry but in the real world it doesn't work like that, I'd back a team that has been built gradually and has had stability over a botch job thrown together over 1 summer.

Basically you don't watch West Ham and have pretty much no clue what goes on inside the club. So I'll be the one to judge whether we're underachieving or not, thanks.

    Not news to me.

"the worst team in the clubs history". So bad that it's still better than most teams in this league, yet alone English football.

Don't think we know anything about losing players? We're a selling club, ANYONE who plays well for us is sold on because we cannot afford to keep them and turn down the money.

We have been in £10m of debt for 10 years+, we got promoted once and by spending a little we almost went into administration.

Your £100m debt = more sustainable than our £10m debt. How could it not be if you can afford to buy all these players and pay all those wages? Our wage cap is like £5k p/w Laughing. Money is just a number, especially if you are still spending....and we're still selling. "our team cost less than £10m." Besides that only being 11 players of your big squad (I assume??)...you have a few quality academy players. They are worth millions.....when we get any player like that they are sold. I always think squad value (based on market value not what you paid for them) + the ability to keep those players is what matters.

You have not pretty much lost your entire first XI, you still have the backbone of your team, and have bought Premier League standard players, or at least quality Championship players. I think I would much rather have Kevin Nolan in my team than have to resort to the many teenagers we play, most of which have very little or no experience at this level. Our team is almost completely new, it contains mostly young, unproven players (or old knackered players like Iwelumo...) Even if you do not spend big money on players (which you have, geez for us £500k is a massive signing).... you also pay massive wages. Even if a player is free....we cannot compete with you, because you can like 40k p/w, we can pay 5k p/w for star players.

I agree, I would back a team that is built gradually over a botch job......but most teams don't have that luxury.....at least if that team contains any quality, as bigger teams buy them up in the next window.

West Ham are underachieving, and I don't care what "mess" you're supposedly in rofl...thanks.

Another clueless opposition supporter... Don't why I fcking bother

To say that £10m is more unstable than £100m of debt is just laughable in the extreme. Are you in any danger of getting liquidated if you aren't in the Premier League? Erm. No.

    I don't care how many players you've sold. Really, I don't.

Last season was terrible and only kept about 4 players from Grant's first XI. The fact it might be better than whoever doesn't matter.

The difference between you spending 500k can't be compared with us at all and has no relevance to anything. You're just feeling sorry for yourself.

If you think a completely new team that has had no time to gel being 3rd with a game in hand is underachieving just because it has had investment then you really aren't in the real world

Seriously, I was told that Championship fans are more knowledgeable than Premier League fans...

    there there

I feel sorry for myself? Maybe a little, though at least I can admit it. What are you doing? You're making up some bullshit arguments that don't matter. Money doesn't change what happens on the pitch, except that spending more gets you better players, generally. "oh no, we have £100m debt rather than £10m....we're going to lose a game on the pitch because of that". Do you spend more? Yes, whether you need it to survive or not doesn't matter. Lots of teams who go into administration could sure do with spending big to get promoted and save themselves.....shame they can't because they don't have the money West Ham do.

3rd is an underachievement. It's not bad, but worse teams have walked the league, Southampton just came up Laughing. A new team is no excuse, if we were going on that basis then Watford would be deep in relegation, as is predicted most years. Besides, having a decent squad and buying tons of players so you have 10 strikers isn't the same as getting a new squad, that's just stockpiling players.

Seriously, some fans from "big teams" are incredibly ignorant.

We are a big team now Laughing

Teams who've spent more than us are below us, as you said more money generally correlates in better players, but doesn't always correlate into better results.

I don't see 3rd as an underachievement at all given we go 2nd if we win our game in hand. Our goal was to go up, which as of this moment is in our hands. Therefore we are not underachieving. We're just barely achieving. If we were 10 points adrift of 2nd I might agree with you...

At the end of the day most fans I know didn't think we'd make the playoffs.

You're usually a Premier League team so.....by Championship standards you're pretty much the biggest.

You know fair enough...obviously if you're 3rd, you can't be underachieving that much. Though personally I thought you should've walked the league. Some people have got predictions completely wrong, I can only assume people thought West Ham wouldn't make the playoffs as they thought you'd have to sell most of your players....I think a lot of teams thought the same about Portsmouth last season, thinking they would be bottom of the table, though they didn't sell as many or go as bankrupt as expected (until now Laughing).

I can't think of many teams who have spent more than you, other than Leicester, but I think the difference is that they've spent big, but perhaps overpaid on players who are mostly Championship quality. On the other hand....you've done the same, but have quite a few Premier League players in your team from last season. So IMO on that matter....you can't only look at spending. James Tomkins was free for you, Leicester spent £5m on Matt Mills, but Tomkins is still the better player.

It's true I'm not sure how they're doing it. If Jason Roberts went to any other team in this league I think he'd have just ended up dogshit but Reading are making him look class.

They've had a good run of fixtures and also I think their manager sets them up very well

Didn't the same thing happen last year though? They went on a run and then fell away from the automatics?

Was in the paper this morning they had a double page spread on Celtic moving to England, said they would have to start in League One. Said if Portsmouth go into liquidation they will buy them, and use it as a route into the Premier League.

Was also on SSN, and a spokesman for Celtic said they can't confirm anything

Don't like this one bit, would rather it was at least the Championship so we would get to the Premier League quicker

Was also on SSN, and a spokesman for Celtic said they can't confirm anything

Don't like this one bit, would rather it was at least the Championship so we would get to the Premier League quicker
Posted about it in your thread just then Laughing. I heard League 1 though.

It's funny seeing it being reported now, there have been lots of signs, Lennon talking a lot recently about how we could do well in the Premier League, plans put forward to expand our stadium, Celtic being excluded from an SPL meeting on how the SPL could cope without Celtic and Rangers

Was surprised our club spokesman didn't rubbish it, he just said nothing could be confirmed.

It'd be pretty embarrassing starting in League One, if it was the championship i'd be all for it if it was a route into the Premier League

Do what AFC Wimbledon did, or at least start from League 2. Not fair to every other club.
