So it's fine to lose because Liverpool have a nice kit deal?

He basically pointed to the fact that the club is more stable than it was two years ago. Which is obviously true, but it's...a bit obvious, and as you say, is almost negated by the fact that the playing quality is shambolic.Sean wrote:Scott. wrote:Why don't you guys try actually reading the article. What other areas are there to improve on – apart from points?"
Yea, because points is such an after thought

What if he was asked about how how the club has progressed since last year. Everyone is saying we haven't because we've got the same points as Owl got or whatever the stat was.
Kenny is just saying the club has progressed massively over the last year. Even if the points don't show that.

Kenny is in here for the long term, and is paving the way for success in 5 years' time, as evidenced by the signings of Henderson and Carroll and the fantastic new sponsorship deals.Theo Filippo wrote:So it's fine to lose because Liverpool have a nice kit deal?

Kit deals dont represent a club has progressed to me, at all.
Its all about points at the end of the day.
EDIT:
I mean come on, thats a ridiculous statement

EDIT:
There are many ways you can judge a season and the best way is progress at the football club as a whole. I don't think it necessarily relates to trophies or points.

We were close to going in to admin and being seized by RBS.
A £300m deal is not progress at all, you're right.

We're stable, but we've been stable for a year now. No closer to top 4.

Which just goes to show how bad this season has been, at least Roy had the excuse he had fuck all money to spend, Dalglish spent about £100M and is basically on the same points tally.

Anyway, this stability is purely financial.
We had a ton of midfielders for every possible purpose, now we are short in midfield.
Our strikers fail to convert basic opportunities.
Our bench isn't a game changer.
The stadium is still only on the horizon.
Roy doesn't have an excuse, he had the players, evidenced by our second half form. Why people make excuses for this man is anyone's guess. He was tactically clueless.

Most of it was your money.
Granted they haven't worked out brilliantly but we can still go forward from where we were previously and our attacking options are dire compared to the other teams around the top 4.

Was still spent horrifically.
And who's fault is that? Maybe if that £35 million was spent any wiser...

Teams instantly gel these days, do they? He's overhauled last seasons squad. It doesn't always instantly click. I know it was the plan with the prem proven shite you're likely to come out with, but it doesn't work like that.

Well, no because thats when Suarez came into the club, and he was a big factor in your second half form.

Yeah 35m for Carroll was downright retarded. We're all aware of that. But your buddy Roy also didn't end the trophy drought like Kenny did.
The league we have been bad, nobody is disagreeing here. But at least we aren't being fed bullshit articles by lying ass journalists about China buying us or RBS liquidating the club.
We're being glass half fullers.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Why the heck did he overhaul last season's squad, the squad that was rolling over inferior teams as we expect them to? Why did he sell a Portuguese international in Meireles, and replace him with a bogstandard premier league nothing player for twice the cost? In the same process, why did said bogstandard nothing player immediately replace Dirk Kuyt in the starting lineup, the same Dirk Kuyt that carried the team through much of last season, scoring vital goals and doing virtually nothing wrong? As a result, we are left with a Dirk Kuyt disillusioned with the management team and low on confidence, and the same crappy young English midfielder strutting about the field doing absolutely nothing.CollieBuddz wrote:Sean wrote:Which just goes to show how bad this season has been, at least Roy had the excuse he had fuck all money to spend, Dalglish spent about £100M and is basically on the same points tally.

The whole team played significantly better. This wasn't just some Van-Persie-esque one man warrior effort.
Also, Torres immediately started scoring when Dalglish came in. Hence the transfer fee.
Again, making excuses for Roy. What's your angle?

But because it's Kenny, you will always come up with a defense of him, its pointless/

Ok, I just agreed that he spent money on the wrong players, but I'll always come up with a defence for him?
If you're ODing again, watch out for codeine, it can play with your mind.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Performance wise we have played much better under Kenny, minus the recent flat games. We never used to dominate games under Hodgson. The games were excruciating to watch because of his defensive hoofball tactics. And we probably had a very similar situation to AvB where the senior players (Gerrard and Carra) were probably calling the shots. If I remember reading correctly they were the biggest influences in pushing Rafa out. Plus we had those awful owners. At least with Kenny, he's a figure everyone in the dressing room is going to respect. While his tactics might not be the best he's a excellent motivator. It's definitely not enough, but if he finally finds a system that works with these players the team might actually start performing again.

Anytime he's brought up though you leap to his defensive.

You're failing to see plenty then. It's basically unanimous amongst people who watch Liverpool every week, and discuss the club when not watching them, that Kenny has been better for the club then Roy.
If you disagree with all of these people, maybe it's you, not everyone else.
Just to be clear, this is a defence of neither manager. Just pretty much an objective analysis.
