I got the red light of death thing on my old PS3 a couple months ago. Had it since the first September (my birthday) it was out for, so around 5 years or so. Kind of expect something to break down after that long though. The launch Xbox was a noisy bugger, died about 3 times on me from RROD as well. Very faulty tbh i was tempted to switch to PS3 but luckily i had that 3 year subscription to Microsoft thing.

i used to have a ps3 but traded it in for xbox about 2 years ago
never looked back
ps3 maybe has an extra year in term of lifespan but xbox is so much better online its not funny. i dont care about paying 10 dollar a month, its completly worth it
i also prefer the xbox exclusive games more but thats more of personal preference
