Thinking of switching from Xbox to PS3

Thread title basically, fancy a change and need lots of opinions to gather to come to my judgement. Thinking of cancelling my Street pre-order and getting it on PS3 too.

Opinions appreciated, constructive please not:

I've had both.

Xbox is great for online gaming, whereas the PS3 is useful for browsing the internet. In terms of performance they are similar.

Depends what you're going to mainly use the console for.

Many people from here have PS3?

Just gaming really casual, not smashing out Call of Duty like FIFA, playing GTA5 when that gets released, I don't know. Tempted to jack it in all together

I have had both. I enjoy the free live subscription on Playstation, and it's a great console with no real issues.. no RRoD and has a shit load of memory.

But I do miss Halo on xbox, and all the little features xbox brings. Also hate on PS3 that you can just make so many accounts for free.. which means a lot of trolling and shit.

Honestly, there isn't much difference between, they're both great. Don't understand such fanboyism towards either of them.

I guess online gaming is slightly better on Xbox, whereas PS3's online subscription is free and it's probably a better media system with the inclusion of blu-ray and browsing the internet.

Xbox because they're a fuck load cheaper. + Better online experience imo.

This is why I like the PS3. Because I don't have TV, I just use the PS3 to get TV shows on the internet.

Xbox is a far better online console. PS3 is better Spec wise and will probably have a longer life span though, and the online is free.

PS3's aren't that expensive any more....and when you think about it, the online cost of Xbox adds up over time.

I have the PS3 and.....tbh I don't really play or care enough about Xbox having "better online" i.e. a better social scene, because I don't want the hassle of it. Most of the Xbox features do not interest me at all, they seem completely extra...only thing I'd want is cross platform voice chat/out of game voice chat....something which the PS3 does not have despite constant moaning to Sony. Tbh though...if I'm playing a game, most of the time I wouldn't want to be talking to people anyway. For sports games.....maybe. For shooters.....probably not. For anything else?...99% no, it's a distraction and most people are just annoying to listen to.

Either way you can play the games you want...performance is pretty similar. I think the most important decisions are:

-Do you want to really socialise?
-Which exclusives do you prefer?

No, when we say online is better on Xbox we mean the gaming community seems better in gerneral, usually get much bigger and better games on Xbox say if you were playing Battlefield or Call of Duty, i think there are more lag issues on PS3 as well.

I don't randomly go online and start talking to people.

Ahh, forgot about Blue Ray. Big reason why I still am with PS3.

Eh, if you're going to play Battlefield get it on PC. Simples.

For CoD, I have played it on both and not noticed any difference in that respect. Same for FIFA......generally the amount of people with both is fairly even. I can't remember the last time I played a game and there was a lack of players.

Lag issues....maybe? When I play FIFA too many games are laggy....but then my brother has an Xbox with the same connection and it's pretty much the same. Basically.....a lot of people lag.

I don't just mean random people, I mean friends and shit......either real life or people you get to know. Generally....just can't be asked with it.

If I had the money, I would probably switch to PS3.

The one thing that annoys me is the PS3 controller is so small. I wonder if there are Xbox controllers fixed for the PS3 available online?

New xbox should be announced in July.

If you're mostly a casual gamer I'd recommend the PS3 so you don't have to pay for a subscription that you aren't even going to use a lot. It's not that expensive anymore, think the cheapest one is $250 (about 130 pounds or so, not exactly sure you can do the conversion) and that's for like 120 GB or like 140 GB, can't remember. As for Xbox having better online I've always thought it mostly a pointless argument. It does obviously have more people but really how are you supposed to even notice that when most games have 32 people max you play with at a time. As someone said I can't remember a time where I have even had trouble finding a match on any game (besides if I tried to play like FIFA 08 online or some shit). COD matches usually take all of 10 seconds to find, FIFA matches take 10-15 seconds at most unless you're playing with like a 2 star team.

That said though, I can't really make the decision for you. I'm obviously going to be a little biased to PS3, but in the end in my opinion if you already have Xbox it doesn't really make all that much sense to switch to PS3. Unless you're going to get both.

I have both consoles and I'm buying FIFA street on Xbox, and I'm not a fanboy because I've had PS3 for years and only got the Xbox a year ago, I'd always keep my PS3 for Uncharted and I always use the chat whilst playing games on the Xbox, just think the whole experience online with Xbox is superior, worth the money for it.

Also, the control for Xbox is so much better.

And I'd say that the PS3 is definitely better - free online, blu-ray discs, good internet browsing, very reliable - no such things as RROD etc. So yeah I'd suggest you get one. I think that Xbox 360's are made for like real hardcore online gamers but PS3's are good for everyone else, the online gamers just prefer the Xbox because of Xbox Live.

and they do actually need to make new consoles very soon, console tech is so old - video games could be with much better graphics right now if the consoles specs were up to date, but they're not so they need to keep the games at same graphics or only slightly better because they want to sell it to consoles too.

stick to what you have man and wait for next gen. consoles.

This used to be me, then I got an Xbox.

You can get a thing like RROD on PS3.
