Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
He's still quality and today proved it, hope he stays because he's the only old head we have in that midfield slot who still know's how to play the Arsenal way.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
I'm not sure I want him to stay though. He was beasting today, but the ratio of him playing like this versus him playing like ass or not playing because of injury are few and far between. Not sure its worth a roster spot, but we will see.

Walcott showed what he could do.
Just sprint down the pitch and finish.
He's lucky those opportunities happened.
The goal where RVP held it up then passed it to Walcott, Walcott wasn't even 40 yards near where he needed to be.. then out of nowhere out-sprinted everyone to get in position for the pass and goal. Was great to see.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
on injuries to Rosicky and Vermaelen…
Unfortunately
we had some bad news for Rosicky today, and Vermaelen as well.
Vermaelen has an ankle problem, and Rosicky a back problem. I don’t
think they will be available for Wednesday, whether they are available
for Saturday is a big doubt.

Amazing how many injuries mysteriously pop up in the days before an international.

I think he is more or less pointing out that one game doesn't erase how useless he has been for the better part of 3 years. Tomas should have been sold along time ago. Wenger loves to hang on to players. Hell look at Diaby and Vela. Neither of them should be on the Arsenal books still either.

I think it's a ploy to get them out of playing for their nation, smart move by Wenger.

We scored 5 against Spurs in 28 minutes.
We have the whole 90 against Milan.

Their defence isn't anywhere near being strong enough though?

Anywhere near? One signing and their back four will be good.Laurencio wrote:kyro7 wrote:They can imo.Laurencio wrote:Wenger is getting a tad cocky.

Well... I guess....
It just seems unlikely that Spurs will mess up third at this point.

With van Persie anything is possible.
Wenger wrote:It is still possible. I felt even before the game that it was possible if we keep our consistency. Everyone in the Premier League can lose points. They have a difficult schedule, and we have a difficult schedule, but if we continue to play like that, why not?
That's not cocky, it's optimism, he doesn't want to give up on the hunt, if we have something to chase after like that it'll give the player more incentive to play well.

If he manages third he's a miracle worker.

Our defensive problems aren't because of the quality of our defenders, they're all internationals and very good players, it's just we can't defend as a unit, our midfield doesn't press the ball well enough and the defenders don't communicate well to help each other defend.
If can all be easily solved with better defensive tactics and training.
That and the fact all our fullbacks were injured at one point or another.

If Wenger gets top 4 he's a magician, judging by how poor our squad is compared to yesteryear and how many injuries we've gotten.
