Liverpool were the only away team to lead the handshake at Old Trafford. In the regulations, it states that the home team lead it.

Phil Dowd changed it for some reason according to SSN.

    Interesting.

If it had been done how it's normally done, I wonder what would have happened.

It would be much harder for Suarez to reject Evra's hand if he was standing still. The fact Suarez was on the side walking, it made it easy for him to just walk past Evra.

Why the fuck would it be changed just for this game?

It's interesting though. Why would they change it? confused It's the ONLY time it's been done that way this season.

Like I said when I posted it, it's very weird how it has just changed for one game (the home team lead the handshakes for all of the other PL games this weekend too).

Although Suarez has now came out and apologised, I still don't think Evra had any intention of shaking his hand.

Shit would have gone down if Suarez had refused the handshake when standing still. Because I think Evra would have stopped.

Fucks sake, how many conspiratorial excuses do we need for Liverpool's behaviour? If Suarez hadn't lied to his coach then the handshake could have been called off altogether and the whole incident avoided.

Dalglish was assuming (after being told) Suarez was going to shake his hand regardless

It's as if they wanted to put the onus of making the first move on Suarez.

Why else would they change the order?

If it was done the right way round, it could have played out much differently.

By all means explain how extraordinary different Suarez behaviour would have been if he was standing still instead of moving.

Well, he couldn't ignore Evra's hand and walk away for starters.

Yes, and if Suarez continued to refuse shaking Evra's hand it would have resulted in an altrication between the players, as he would no doubt grab after his hand. The idea that Suarez' behaviour would radically change simply because he is standing still is slightly silly.

He would probably be more inclined to just shake Evra's hand.

Still, not an excuse but it's still interesting that Liverpool are the only team to lead the handshake...

Chances that it would have resulted in an altrication is just as high as chance of him shaking his hand. You can't chose what scenario is more likely because that's what you'd prefer to be true.

If it had been the other way around, and Suarez refused, people would be saying "If he was walking past he might be more inclined to shake his hand and quickly walk away and there wouldn't have been an altrication". These excuses are absurd.

This really doesn't change anything. He could have still refused his hand when standing still. Look at Ferdinand. Even if Suarez were to eventually shake his hand because he has nowhere to go, his initial refusal would still be worth criticizing.

Just get over it Scott. Suarez was wrong, he apologized, end of story. No need to defend his every move when it's not even necessary.

Fucking hell fuck right off, I'm not defending him here. I'm just curious as to why it was changed. Fuck me.

This must be why Suarez refused. He wanted to expose the injustices being displayed by Manchester United.
