It's quite ironic that Religion, a belief meant to bring peace to the world, has been the fundamental reason behind the some of the most bloodiest of wars.

That reminds me, was stopped today by this religious group at Uni and asked them to contribute to their wall.

I was asked.. 'What is bad about the world?'

Despite me saying, 'My opinion is a)not what you want to here, b)something that will probably offend you and c)something that completely goes against what you are trying to do here' they insisted I put it up.

Then they accused me of being 'close-minded' and a 'hypocrite' for putting religion.

    Cunts.

Perhaps I didn't pick the right words, generally religious people think that believing in god is the just, right thing to do and that surely can't be right if so much suffering has been caused through name of god.

And rightfully so. Is religion to blame for the worldwide economic crisis? Is religion responsible for the Iraq War? The thousands of deaths in revolutions and protests?

I'm not saying people haven't used religion to cause problems, but putting the blame on religion for the world's problems is not fair and false.

No I don't think that, but for example Religion has been the root of many dictatorships throughout history, with the leader announcing he is some sort of messenger of god and the people blindly following like sheep. In a world with no religion, while there would still be conflict, there would be considerably less.

Anything that requires faith to turn ideology into actualization, will cause fundamental problems. But in a moderated form religion can be undeniably positive. But to suggest it is the root cause of all problems is absurd. We are tribal beings, we will always buy into division, whether it be football team or nationality. That is the root cause.

You can share your opinion, but it doesn't make it true. Saying the world is bad because of religion is grossly attacking religion.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, even Bush said so. It was all politics and economy. I'd even argue about the religious reasoning behind 9/11. The terrorist attacks were largely politically motivated as well.

Bayern fans on that site already want them to sell Robben in the summer Laughing

Think it's too early, I'm quite sure Shaq will start for Bayern sooner or later though.

You presume a rational authority would have broken out? Religion aided educated and civilization, which ushered us into a new scientific age, which ultimately supplemented its own downfall.

I never said it was true. I said it was MY OPINION.

And what is wrong with me saying religion is bad? That is what I think, I've not set out to offend anyone, I even said that they might find my opinion offensive and said I'd rather not do it. They still did. They told me they valued every opinion they got and wanted to express a variety of opinions of what people think. That is, expect for those that go against what they are preaching.
