You had 14 days to appeal to a higher instance. If you had you could have argued against the decision and whatever was decided by the independent commission could easily have been irrelevant. Suarez suspension would have been put on hold until the appeal process had been completed.
And we decided that it would be a lengthy and needless process. Considering Suarez would more than likely be distracted by having the case hanging over him. Look at Terry, his performance has dropped since he was accused of racial abuse. His has been delayed until the end of the Euro's. What happens if it gets delayed further, that will go into next season.
If we were to appeal directly to the FA, we were only able to appeal to shorten the ban. If we chose to appeal and the FA decided it was a 'frivolous appeal', it would be lengthened. As the likelihood of it being overturned was nil, we decided against that.
