Would sign it, but I'm Norwegian...

I'm not entirely sure how someone could go looking for one answer for 23 years though. Sounds a tad... over the top to me. No offence to anyone intended, but that's a pretty long time to be in denial of the event (not saying she knows the truth).

How would this new inquest work anyway?

Imagine losing a child at a football game, dying in your arms. Then, imagine you've been told that your child could have survived simply by being given oxygen. Then imagine, you've been told that there were 40+ ambulances outside the stadium, with the order to stay where they are. Then imagine in the days that passed, while grieving over the death of your 15 year old son, you read the lies printed in national papers, claiming those that died were drunk, ticketless fans and read the lies about those Liverpool fans that were heroes on the day, and those police officers (who are there to protect) that did nothing. Then imagine, while the investigation into the deaths begins, you are told that there will be no enquiry into what happened after 3:15pm on the day, despite your son dying in your arms much later than that deadline. Imagine having to put up with those culpable walking away with cosy police pensions, while you have to go home without a child.

Now tell me, is the problem here that she is looking for justice for 23 years, or the fact that she hasn't been given it?

How anyone can criticise the actions of the families, who have done nothing to deserve criticism over the past 23 years, is beyond me.

They're pretty good at spotting relevant and irrelevant signatures though. Anything that seems like "duplicate entries" or obvious fake ones tend to discredit the petition. Hopefully no one was stupid enough to fake a lot of signatures or make duplicate signatures from the same computer, because that would only harm the petition and the woman's chances of getting it accepted.

All in all it's a good cause so signing it just because they support a football club is in itself fairly stupid, but considering the case, not exactly the worst thing in the world.

Hang on Dan, I'm not criticizing her actions. Nor am I criticizing her right for the truth. I'm not saying she doesn't deserve it, nor am I saying she is wrong to ask for it.

What I am saying, is that to me it seems like she's let the tragedy consume her life. She has been unable to accept her sons death, and she is looking for retribution. Still fighting as fiercely as this after 23 year is admirable, surely, but also reflects the actions of someone who has let their lives be consumed with a tragedy. I can completely understand why, but whatever happens here it will not change the tragedy. Nothing wrong with that, but at some point you will have to learn to let go. Please understand I do not blame her, nor do I criticize her for her actions. She is not at fault, and if my impression of this case and her fight is right, then this goes far deeper than a conscious choice.

I sincerely hope she gets the answers she is looking for, and that she finally gets the conclusion she needs to come to grips with his death.
