Watched the documentary 'Once in a lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of The New York Cosmos.' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489247/ 9/10.
Documentary which looks at the rise and fall of the NY Cosmos in the 70s and early 80s. Starting with the purchase of the franchise by Davis Ross of Warner, through the signing of Pele. which brought mass interest to the league, which then led to more world famous names such as The Kaiser, George Best and Johan Cruyff to the NASL. Cosmos themselves also were regularly getting 70k+ home attendances which seems quite incredible for a country where soccer was less than nothing before Pele. Spoiler alert, things do eventually go tits up.
The documentary itself was well made and presented with many different people being interviewed. Almost everyone important who was involved with the Cosmos gives their view including the likes of Beckenbauer. David Ross isn't interviewed as he is pan bread; and Pele declined to appear as he was probably too busy advertising viagra.
On the whole it is well put together with excellent production and a good soundtrack. It is a fascinating story and this tells it as well as anyone can.
