Suicide:Right or Wrong?
Following the theme of the abortion thread. Do you think suicide is a matter of personal choice and up to the individual or a cowardly act that hurts others? Whats your thoughts?

No one wants to be 80 years old and the only person alive on earth..
If that was the case.. I would probably take my own life somewhere in the 60's jumping off a huge ass cliff on some island.

I would probably die before I get the chance to commit suicide, by trying to fly a helicopter or something.

How am I uneducated? Those are two opposing ideas that always arise when the subject is brought up.

as the last person on earth ever, taking your life would be a huge insult to any human who has ever lived.

Re: Suicide:Right or Wrong?
I think it is selfish on their family, but if someone doesn't want to live then they shouldn't be forced to live and i'm sure I could forgive someone I loved if they killed themselves because they really didn't want to be here.
We aren't brought to this world by choice, so I don't think we should be forced to stay if we don't want to.

I could never kill myself because I couldn't do that to my family but I think If someone really wants to die then it's sort of ok, nobody should be forced to live if they really don't want to.

If it ends the suffering of those who commit it?

Say if someone is miserable and tired of living, maybe not so much medically because thats more on the Euthanasia side I guess, but like mentally and emotionally and all that they're suffering, is it right for them to be able to decide to end it?

why would you kill yourself? you could go on a sweet adventure looking for another survivor and then you'd have to fuck them.

Re: Suicide:Right or Wrong?
Suicide is not right. But I wouldn't call someone suffering from a severe mental problem a coward. I also can understand someone risking their own life to save others.

Yeah would be a great adventure I guess, just sucks that there wouln't be any planes flying etc, you'd really have to take a helicopter or something

Re: Suicide:Right or Wrong?
Last year an old school friend's mother killed herself (won't go into details of how as it was pretty gory) - I went to the funeral and can honestly say it was one of the worst things I have ever been through. What put it all into perspective for me was the fact that this woman's great Granny was sitting in the front row sobbing.
Made me think a lot about what must be going through your head in order to commit suicide, but there is no way you can be in any sort of correct state.
I don't think it's right or wrong, just totally up to the person who does it. Maybe it is a selfish act but I would never call the person who does it 'selfish' because that's a negative term, and I wouldn't want to remember the person for negative reasons.

Re: Suicide:Right or Wrong?
If you're sick (mentally or physically) then you have an excuse to top yourself.
If not then you're a weak coward. There's nothing in this world worth taking your life over.

Re: Suicide:Right or Wrong?
Basically a life story described in here Sean?
Dude, It can't seriously be that bad. You haven't killed anyone, you haven't committed any crimes (of that I know). What seriously drives you to even think of it? Whatever the problem is i.e. tired of studying etc? Then leave school. Whatever, I know you and me don't always see eye to eye, well never really but dude ... just don't. Causing unnecessary harm to loved ones. Don't really know much else to say, but just think.
