Reservoir Dogs - seen it before, such an epic film
Full Metal Jacket - once again see it before, the first hour or so is brilliant with the Sergeant but it gets boring in Vietnam

    Post by ayvee1 Tue Jan 18, 2011 4:31 am

Watched a load of movies over the past couple of weeks:

The Expendables - Good cast, good action sequences but not a great storyline. 7.5/10

G.I. Joe - Pretty good, a little bit cheesy in places though. 7/10

Quantum Of Solace - Poor if I'm honest, technical stuff was good but the storyline was awful. 3/10

Bourne Ultimatum - Great film just like it's prequels. Clever storyline, good dialog. Matt Damon is great in this. 9.5/10

Transporter 3 - Good special effects but the fight scenes are a bit cheesy and the dialog was largely shite. The woman in it was a terrible actress. 5/10

88 Minutes - Fairly good thriller. Al Pacino is good as the lead. You can tell it wasn't a big budget film though. 6.5/10

The Taking Of Pelham 123 - Fantastic film. Denzel Washington and John Travolta have a great chemistry between them. Exciting storyline and superb acting. 9.5/10

Inglorious Basterds - I really liked this, the storyline was fresh and the execution of it was spot on. Brad Pitt was awesome as the leader of the Basterds. Would highly recommend. 10/10

Dead Man Running - Not bad, Tamer Hassan and Danny Dyer work well together, 50 Cent was a bit lame though. Interesting storyline with a twist at the end. 7/10

The Orphanage - Spanish horror film. Gripping storyline and pretty scary in places while using minimal gore (that most horror films seem to use these days). 7.5/10

Hurt Locker - Great film. Storyline was pretty good but it was the acting that stood out in this, great performances from the 3 leads. Would highly recommend. 9.5/10

4321 - Pretty shit if I'm honest. Would have expected it to be pretty good seeing as it's a Noel Clarke film (I usually like his stuff) But the storyline was pretty weak and too slow in places. 4/10

Harry Brown - Brilliant film. My favourite out of the lot; fantastic performances from Michael Caine and Ben Drew in particular. Great storyline and well written. If you haven't already seen it, you should. 10/10

Frost/Nixon - Great acting from Michael Sheen and particularly Frank Langella who does a great Nixon. Good dialog. Maybe a little slow in places though. 7.5/10

28 Days Later - Not bad, storyline is ok and the acting was pretty good. Could have been better though 6.5/10

Quantum of Solace just appeared really random when I watched it. Don't think it's even a patch on Casino Royale.

Storyline was too fast and confusing imo and the bit in Italy was unnecesary.

The best James Bond one is the one where at the start, these guys are playing Paintball and James blows them apart, thinking they're real guns.

How was the part in Vienna unnecessary? Neutral

These are the films ive watched out of the ones you posted.
Bourne Ultimatium was my favourite out of the trilogy as i got kinda confused with the plots of the first 2
Hurt Locker was really good, got it on Blu-Ray...makes the beginning explosion look epic
28 Days Later, i preferred the second one although i liked the part where the main character gets chased by loads of zombies out of the barn house

The Last King Of Scotland - Brilliant film. Disturbing in parts but thoroughly entertaining. A deserved Oscar-winning performance from Forest Whitaker. 10/10

In The Electric Mist - I didn't understand this movie if I'm honest, the plot was confusing and the acting (aside from Tommy Lee Jones) left a lot to be desired. Even after reading the plot on wikipedia, I still don't understand it. 3/10
